I know this may have been asked numerous times before, so apologies for this...

...but I am close to realising a dream of mine and owning a Mclaren - albeit at the low end (12c).

Where I'm struggling is insurance. Nobody seems to want to touch me...

Rough details:
SW London postcode
Garaged
clean history
Full UK licence for 11yrs +
Some previous performance cars (911, r8, m3 - granted not in same league)
28 years old

I've tried:

Locktons (helpful, but said will be tough unless part of a fleet)
Direct Line Select (waiting to hear back, but the guy on the phone was skeptical)
Allen Thomas - haven't heard back
Admiral - quoted me £3.4k (although a bit apprehensive about using them for this type of car)
Adrian Flux - refused to quote (which was very surprising)

Any other recommendations? Or should I just pay up and go with Admiral?

Thanks for any guidance

I can't help I'm afraid, but if you do look at admiral, have a look at the recent updates in the stolen S1 thread in GG...just something to consider regarding any optional extras. Sorry, on the move but hopefully this link works:

A Manning on ltd mileage policy or NFU currently very good Im told and don't demand tracker fitted so that in effect saves you £200 a year.

They've conjured up some magic and quoted me <£1500 for limited mileage + track day cover.

would call manning and NFU anyway to compare -

manning do track cover, but you potentially run into issues with McLaren if you do anything other than Pure days.

Most of the 200+ McLaren group use:-

Manning UK
Chubb
APlan private clients
NFU
Admiral

Apart from Admiral these all allow the cars to be fixed at a garage of your choice (McLaren) which you need to check with other insurers. Although Admiral have been good when required and have let people go to McLaren (not much choice). Manning UK include track use for free, which is great if you want to have a couple of track days. Premiums are in the range of £600 - £1,200 generally, depending on factors of which the biggest factor seems to be location.

Most require a tracker, £217pa subscription, apart from NFU, so you need to factor this in. All McLarens should have a tracker however, if it has not been activated for six months it may need replacing and this is £900 on top. Make sure your tracker is activated and working before you buy or it could be costly if your insurer insists on it.
