No. Great in theory but not practical in reality.

If someone wants the cars badly enough they will break into the house or bash me over the head and get both key and card anyway.

Its a bit of a silly system really
My lambo isn't insured if they find out the fob is attached to the key. You are meant to keep them separate at all times.
Correct Sir. I think you'll find that is a pretty standard condition, certainly is with all the cars I've had with a tracker for insurance.
Good to know! In that case I'll think of a solution to keep it off the keys, thanks.

If it was a daily driver then agreed, but as a weekend toy I'm more likely to have my wallet stolen and then have to pay for a new fob! There is a leather specialist near me, I'll ask if they can make be something up.
Last time I required fobs they were free issue from Nav trac. Had 2 with car as well. I just got fed up with forgetting to pick up separate fob and key and having them phone me up.
and yes I do forget my wallet on the odd occasion which tests system when they phone.

I just keep my tracker fob in a separate location in the house to my Mac key. When i go out, i just put them both together in the cupholder position. As pointed out on here by others, you shouldn't keep the fob and key together on same key ring.

Totally agree with the logic of keeping them apart. But high end dealers like HR Owen giving key ring fob pouches seems a bit irresponsible if they don't warn customers

Insurance is invalidated if they find you keep the fob in the car or attached to the keys in a pouch etc.

Personally I keep key and fob in separate locations. Having your car stolen must be pretty awful but to then find out your insurance won't pay would be totally devastating.

The effort saved by using a little pouch ain't worth the 'possible' £150k cost..... IMO!

I was out in the car the other day with the tracker fob in one back pocket, the key in the other back pocket. Vodafone rang me in the car as they couldn't pick up the fob. Nice to know they are there if a problem arises and i now keep the key and fob in cupholder while driving.

Yup same here. This exact debate was being discussed on the AM forum a few weeks ago. One regular poster on PH suggested that keeping them apart was an even stupider idea than keeping them together or in a safe.....rofl
