Poss 650S purchase
Discussion
Hi Guys, my first post on the McLaren section of the forum, historically been a Porsche and Ferrari buyer but been out the market for a few years.
I've just returned from viewing a Ferrari 430 Spider with a manual box that's very peaky at £149,950 and I'm weighing this up against a much newer car and having just been blown away being taken around a circuit by the track owner in a 650s I wanted to look into them and was quite surprised how much car you get for your money with them now.
This will not be a car that gets driven a lot, sorry I know people get annoyed by that but I've caned various GT3's, GT2's and 355's and then sold them all on years ago for a pittance compared to value now.
I want something I can drive every couple of weeks to once a month and keep fairly pristine for the next 10-12 years, the Ferrari appeals to the emotional side but the McLaren is an amazingly car that was seriously quick and I think will be highly sought after in years to come especially based on production numbers etc.
I've seen this car quite local to myself

Looks a good spec to me but I'm very very new to McLaren so not sure and would appreciate any advice if possible.
I've been reading up on warranties and this seems to have one so I'm assuming I could then extend it ?
Is the colour ok as don't see many in silver from my research?
Thanks in advance for any tips.

One particular question is around the standard memory seats, I'm 6 ft 4 and in a 430 the race seats work fine but the standard memory seats are far too high and make driving almost impossible as looking straight at top of screen plus legs totally cramped. I read something about this with the 650s so any advice appreciated. Thanks again.
Looks great, carbon is very popular (and this car appears to have plenty)
Sports exhaust also highly wanted
They all came with ceramic brakes
Would be great to see what else was added to get to a total of £50k+ in extras
No mention of lift but then again unless you have a steep drive not required.
Mclaren warranty is a must (£3,500 a year)
Silver not the most popular colour - but personally I think it looks great in the metal.
It's also worth looking/ contacting

It's already well priced but a small discount would make it a bargain.

The roof line is a bit different in the spider vs a coupe but a friend who is 6'4 drove my car (12c coupe) many times without any issue. As said above the heated electric seats are a bit higher than the manual ones. I'd rather have the lifter on a 650 than not I have to admit. The front spoiler lip extends much further than the 12c which probably can get away without the lifter compared to the 650

I have a 650s with standard seats (not memory) - at 6'5" I find them most comfortable. Thoroughly enjoy the car although it's been in storage for 4 months over winter. Seems a good proposition now given the price of the 720s. Couldn't recommend McLaren Glasgow more highly if you're looking at keen prices.N.
That car looks to have a pretty good spec. I like the silver and with those wheels makes a good combo. For some reason the silver cars seem to hang around on the 12C and 650S, but if this is a keeper buy what you like.
To add to Wilmslow boy , agree warranty is virtually a must.
Advert has a good description, This car looks to have as options:
Orange calipers
Carbon upgrade interior
Carbon engine covers
Carbon sill side cover
Alcantara interior
Carbon side vanes
Carbon air brake - rear spoiler that comes up when you brake.
Carbon rear bumper insert
carbon Door Inserts
I think there is also additional carbon behind rear seat
Carbon mirror covers
Carbon rear diffuser
Sport exhausstealth pack
Heated seats
Not sure if those wheels were an option
I think safe to say this car is pretty loaded with carbon!
Good luck.

Can't believe I managed to get through a thread about mclaren without reading loads of hyperbole ...
Why does everybody say the warranty is a must? This would make me nervous if planning to own a car for 10+ years as I usually traget(until what age can it be extended?)
I think its a consequence of stuff like leaky gearboxes needing replacement rather than repair at huge cost. Why does everybody say the warranty is a must? This would make me nervous if planning to own a car for 10+ years as I usually traget(until what age can it be extended?)

Warranty is a must as McLaren's parts pricing indicates that everything they make is forged from Unicorn Horn shavings.....there are plenty of known issues on the 12c/650s that whilst aren't major issues (misting of front and rear lights, door locking modules, Iris issues, door AC LED units) the cost of replacing them is eye opening to say the least.............which is before you take into account if your gear box starts to leak...........$$$$.Why does everybody say the warranty is a must? This would make me nervous if planning to own a car for 10+ years as I usually traget(until what age can it be extended?)
