Having just looked through PistonHeads used cars section there are now in region of only 18 for sale excluding one particular dealer who still shows long sold vehicles . AT also have a couple more ! But in Middle of 2020 it was over 40.

It does though seem all the nicer spec 2018/19 better colour optioned cars have gone. There are also folks requesting nice examples through the Supercar clubs and presumably cars are being sold this way without being advertised.

So are we now seeing interest in the 720s rising with so few decent examples available and arguably it is the greatest Supercar from an overall performance point of view with low spec cars down in the £130k’s

Prices do though appear to have stabilised even though some folks still want to talk values down for their own ends I guess.

Prices may not rise for the 720s but it looks likely they won’t fall much so are they the best value Supercar, Probably!!

I would have to agree with you having driven one. Absolutely absurd performance vs price ratio.
Actively seeking one as we speak..

Even if you consider OTR prices, performance wise they wipe the floor with most of the opposition - think the new 911 turbo is up there with it. But when you think about 2nd hand values and they are, bang for buck, the best you can get IMHO.

The newer cars (with the white swoosh logo on the back) come with updated software and less niggles so are even more appealing.

Bar a Zonda, they're probably one of the best looking cars out there today.

As of March 2020, I noticed 60 coupes for sale, now there are 20 but I've seen a reduction in performance car availability since lock down pretty much across the board.

Entirely subjective I guess but I've never been a fan of the 720 looks. I think the back half looks great, but still not a fan of the lights or the way the front wings meet the doors. I do think the centre display and switches are much nicer though, so the inside is a nicer place to be (although the dash is fully electronic which I'm not a fan of). At least it means I'm not tempted to upgrade

When I was shopping ~18 months ago, 720s were more than I wanted to pay (Ascot had a couple starting in the 150s). If I was shopping now - I'm not sure what I'd do. I prefer the styling of the 650 - and I'm sure I'd prefer the price - but the 720 is no doubt "more" so I'd probably test drive one.

Definitely a lot of car for the money - as are most McLarens in fact. Depreciation is often a talking point, but the plus side is that it makes some amazing cars much more affordable - never thought I'd be driving a McLaren.

Yes, entirely subjective. I try and write IMHO but sometimes forget.

I thought they looked like a bag of bashed crabs at launch but can't get enough of them now.

I did mean to add in my thread, that they are growing on me, so it's quite possible I'll think they're gorgeous a bit further on. It has happened in the past with other cars. (I hope it doesn't though - it's much better for my bank account to not like the newer version!)

Agree, totally subjective.

I think I have made up my mind that a 720 will be my next car, I don't need the power it is bat-st crazy, but I prefer the looks and the interior is a massive step up from the 570. To me the 720 is a gorgeous shape, and I love those headlights.

I would go 570, that's more than I need, but the interior lets it down in my view.

Also considered a 570s as like you said it’s more car than I’d need but I asked myself if I’d be happy with my choice the first time I saw a 720s whilst sitting in a 570s..

Not confident about that but certain I wouldn’t feel envious of a 570s from the drivers seat of a 720.

I have looked at your ad so many times! Your car is, in my opinion, the perfect example.

Can I ask what colour you have gone for on the 765?

I absolutely loved my 720 but did miss a top down blast, once you get over the way it piles on speed it does become a little boring imo.

I actually preferred my 650.spider but I am glad I tried the 720, I'd probably still have it if it was a spider but the price difference was huge at the time

It did have niggles but nothing that would put me off too much. I'm sure I'll get back into a McLaren at some stage but only a spider next time as I only really use these cars in good, dry weather!

+1

Certainly from a performance numbers perspective the 720 is great value - even when new.

But the 650 is the convertible in my garage, and the 720 spider doesn't seem like a good value step up if you already have a carbon tub, proactive suspension, folding roof Mclaren. Think of how many years I could have the extended warranty instead!

720S undoubtedly incredible value at the money if you can get a good one despite not being everyones cup of tea.

According to figures there are 617 UK registered 720’s with 1 or 2 LM’s. ( many are sorned though )

Some well documented issues with a few cars and in addition some folks have had minor gremlins. Not something that is desirable but overplayed by some people for their own ends I guess.

But When the 720s is compared to Porsche GT3/GT3RS which is a so called limited edition the 720s really is a rare beast and even rarer than a Huracan, Aventador or 488.

With the Artura being launched shortly although not a replacement for the 720s maybe we will see used prices actually begin to rise to a level which represents the overall Supercar market and not the ridiculously low prices for 720’s as well as the other Mclaren models.

Seems a bargain to me !

Similar numbers of UK 991.2 GT3s (including Tourings) at c 630.

The GT3 RS is a different model with a different focus and different price.

That’s one of the things I love about the 720, it’s unique styling, love it or hate it, nothing else on the road like it. With so many high end cars all looking similar...... well you can’t say that about a 720!

I personally love it, has so much presence on the road. And in person, up close, so many interesting features, looks like a space ship from some angles.....

Great cars, but make sure it's covered by warranty or deep pockets. Couldn't wait to see the back of mine. 15 months ownership, mclaren had it for at least half that.

Incredible cars, but I personally wouldn't touch one with a barge pole. They're 'cheap' for a reason.

Just a bad experience but not the norm by any means.

I had problems with my Porsche but the Porsche dealer just doubled my issues. Won’t touch Porsche at the moment but times and manufacturers change !!

I'm not alone. 2 friends had the unfortunate experience of owning one too, both had issues. But yeah, porsche......

Like I said, mega car, when it works. I just couldn't imagine owning one with a few miles on. I personally couldn't drive one with continuously looking at the dash, watching for rust and oil leaks and panicking that the power steering will fail on me when I really need it.
Never again.
