Just out of interest what reasons would there be to avoid cars that are being sold with main dealer warranty? Bodywork issues & neglect?

Although warranty is great it doesn’t mean anybody wants a car that lives in the workshop of course!
Neglect, history, condition I’d say, it was on here I asked but over a year ago, think it was on the buying a Sports series thread ,,

If it was me looking now and my heart was set on a spider it would have to be either the Leeds car, the Brum car or the Sarthe grey car, the others for sale wouldn’t even get to the Look at stage,, but that’s just me ,, laugh

Glasgow had a Sarthe Grey car and I did a 100 odd mile round trip to see it. It had all the carbon options plus the carbon wing vents plus Senna seats. It confirmed that grey wasn’t for me but it was probably the sort of spec I naively expected most cars to be.

I like the Leeds car but not sure on the colour. Looks too metallic for me if that makes sense. Seems a bit too light. Need to see in the flesh.

Never liked white cars but the 600 looks good as there are so many black / grey parts. But maybe it’s just desperation setting in!

Similar thoughts from me on that car. I like it but I’d like it more if it was orange or green. Leeds and Glasgow are part of the same group and I’ve given some thought to the 600 mile round trip to view it but I sort of know I’d really, really like it more than black or grey but probably come away adding blue to my not-for-me list.

That blue looks great. And the carbon confirms that visible is the way to go!

What’s the situation with mileage “correction” on McLaren’s?

Something to be aware of or doesn’t get flagged by dealers so it’s not a common issue?

My last 2 cars (Huracan then Aventador SV) both would flag when plugged in at the dealers as there were multiple places the mileage was stored so it’s not something I’ve thought about for about 5 years - is that the case with the Macs?

It probably happens to a lesser extent as most owners don't mind putting miles on them and they do benefit from being driven but a PPI is still a must on these

People will pay more for a Ferrari that only racks up a barely pausible 1200 miles a year. However on a McL it seems to make them less desirable.

Never heard of it as an issue with any McLarens......

Love that contrast; visual carbon for me every time.

Vega looks fantastic.

Ok great to hear regarding the mileage. Definitely a big deal with Ferraris where 15k is considered a high miler

I've got to say my surprise has been the number of cars with comfort spec seats and upgraded music systems and with less carbon pack options that I was expecting. I was expecting things to be more akin to Lotus Exige spec cars with the focus more on "hardcore" rather than "softcore" looks. I do appreciate the cars themselves are hardcore enough I probably just expected carbon packs and Senna seats or bucket seats to be more common.
Without wanting to sound like a 675 owner, the high spec cars are in the hands of longer term owners. The cars for sale are the poor spec cars or ones to avoid like the plague, like the lime green car at Sterling........
Can you shed any more light on the situation with the Lime car at Sterling? Have done a search and besides comments on the strange spec of yellow with lime I can’t find anything regarding why it’s a bad car?

Owning a 600 LT and been in the groups, just heard comments on it supposedly been sold or removed from sale for months, then re-appearing for sale with exact same mileage...

It has potentially been sat for two years, either hardly driven or whatever you may think, for whatever reason it is clearly a very hard car to sell, maybe it has history or its just an undesirable spec, either way you'd be buying a car nobody else has purchased so come re-sale you might really struggle to sell it.

My advice is only buy a McLaren which gets driven regular, has been recently service/inspected and comes with a McLaren warranty, as such on the basis you need to buy either from a McLaren dealer or privately, SOR may work, but warranty and recent service/inspection is a must.

He was the first guy I spoke to. He was the guy that the 2nd salesman said he would refer to before calling me back. He was the guy I emailed directly asking if there was any issues getting the information.

I think I’ll pass on them. First impressions and all that.
Fair enough, just trying to help as found them very good to deal with.

Im aware the owner of the car has a massive colllection, so unfortunately it probably just isnt a priority for him to return calls.

Good luck with your search.
