I have the original McLaren charger that came with my 650, what is better with the CTEK version?
The original McLaren branded charger is CTEK also, but if left powered up for extended periods (some) can start to click and not charge the battery. I first experienced it 2 years ago when working abroad, I’d come home and see the charger showing full, but the car reported only a few days battery left instead of the 45 of a full battery (720s). I bought a cheap digital time switch which shuts of the charger every few days for a few minutes and it’s worked fine ever since, as it resets the charger and prevents it getting stuck in the clicking loop. I hope that helps.

Yes that does help and love the timer idea, I have a couple of spares and will put into the charging circuit.

I had the same issue with mine.

I thought about using a timer switch, but decided the newer CTek was probably a better idea.

It’s £110 and I’ve one on each of my cars.

I had a look on google and Amazon and gave up after looking at various units that didn’t have UK plug or the cigarette connection. If someone me can post a link to a Sutton that would be appreciated!

Frankychops, congrats! I really like the Volcano Red with the carbon and the alcantara inside, if I'd got a 650 that would definitely be what I'd have gone for. It looks like a case of buying the car you really wanted, and I'm sure you'll long be glad of having done so. Now you just need some sunshine to enjoy it!

If you mean to buy a suitable Lithium CTEK charger, I recently bought
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00FF6NV3W?ref=ppx_yo2... charger and
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0016LA5O8?ref=ppx_yo2... lighter adapter
which has been consistently keeping my '19 570GT showing '49 days'.

If you mean a timer plug, I use this Tapo for EV charging
https://www.johnlewis.com/tp-link-tapo-p105-mini-w...
cheap and fairly flexible to set up a schedule and control from a phone

If its the CTEK 7.0 they're £100 in Halfords with the code Holiday10.

I know, a bit old school actually going to a bricks and mortar shop, but recently they've beaten the warehouse stores on car and bike spares.

They don't have the Lithium one for some reason.

Don't do what I did, order one from a euro seller by accident smile

A cheap adapter plug is fine on these, if a bit annoying to have to buy.
