A bit of a yawn questions, but does anyone know how much the tyres cost?
I'm just evaluating whether to take up a maintained contract, I guess that with them being unique to the i3 plus large in diameter (but not wideness) then they will be very expensive?
Ha! Was just about to ask the same question as my i3 is due in a few weeks and was wondering the same about the maint. lease.I'm just evaluating whether to take up a maintained contract, I guess that with them being unique to the i3 plus large in diameter (but not wideness) then they will be very expensive?
BTW that price is for the fronts and BEV standard alloy rears. If your ordered a REX or any of the other 19" alloys styles you will need 175/60's which are an extra tenner.
I reckon the £650 over the contract for maintenance seems worthwhile with the cost of tires, so have gone for the maintenance lease. One service and a set of tires, I think it covers punctures too.

Just learned today from Andy Priaulx at a BMW event at Brands Hatch that he's got one in Guernsey!

He can probably get around the island on one charge.hoganscrogan said:

£650? Who is that with - I've been quoted £40.10 per month! That's on 15k per year admittedly, guess it makes a difference though I can't see how as the service package is £375 for 3 years/60k miles.BTW that price is for the fronts and BEV standard alloy rears. Quite a few of us have noticed that. It happens every day with me and the biggest jump I've seen is 25 miles (without even moving the car).
I asked about it in the i3 FB group (with Ross too) and it was dismissed with the usual answer of "it's a guessometer, these things are never that accurate" but the big jumps of ± 30% for the same SoC feel like an error in the app to me. It's not anything to do with temperature either, I've seen the range drop 20 miles as temp has got warmer. It's odd although it's not the end of the world with the REx so I just ignore it. I assume it's more of a worry with the BEV where you need to have a better grip on how many miles you've got remaining.
Having said that, in car I feel like the range estimations are pretty good and the fact that the app and the car don't always tie-in makes me trust the car more than the app.

I love my i3, but I do take issue with BMW's marketing regarding the range.
They quote 80-120 miles range. In everyday driving I think 65-80 miles is more realistic.
BMW are not quite as optimistic as you think - in my brochure it lists the (everyday) electric range on the Rex as 75-93 miles. They quote 80-120 miles range. In everyday driving I think 65-80 miles is more realistic.
This is from the website:
"With the standard COMFORT setting, the BMW i3’s real-world range is up to 100 miles - depending on driving style, traffic situation and road conditions. ECO PRO mode, with the adapted accelerator pedal feature and reduced air conditioning, demands less power, and increases the possible range by up to 12%.* The ECO PRO+ mode is specifically oriented for range. For this reason, the top speed of the BMW i3 is reduced to 55mph and systems including heating and air conditioning are deactivated. When compared to the COMFORT mode, the possible range is increased by up to 25%.*

- Figures may vary depending on driving style and conditions, determined in internal BMW research studies."
Marketing vs Engineering!
From the brochure:
Maximum range (electric) = 106 miles.
Maximum overall range = 211 miles.
Electric range, everyday use = 75-93 miles.
Overall range, everyday use = 149-186 miles.
So given the Rex kicks in at 6.5% charge, you would expect 70 - 87 miles useable electric range.

It's with BMW 8000 miles per year it's actually £23 per month for maint. so £830! sorry! Does cover punctures (of which I've had two recently) and fresh set of boots at £480 plus one service.Gassing Station | EV and Alternative Fuels | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
