Hi all,

I could be a first time EV convert after a 70m drive today and a 24hr test drive booked in a couple of weeks.
I'm looking to swap my 150k miles 330d to a I3 REX for my 20k yearly commute with 80% motorway use.

My calculations show the cost of running a new I3 and the 330d to be similar over 48months.
The I3 would only be used for my daily 110 mile commute as I have a M6/360.

I had a quote from a dealership today but there didn't seem to be any discount beyond the £3100 dealer contribution. Also I was told a home charging point would be £575 which included a £500 grant.

My spec was as per below-
Loft
20" double spoke alloy
Sport package
Media package
Park assist package
Apr Delivery

Should I be looking for more discount or 0% APR rather than 1.3%?

Thanks
I think you will be very lucky to get 110 miles out of the car in normal use without relying on the Rex every day (with associated fill ups). Do you have a charge point at work?

I disagree. 110 miles is eminently achievable with the new battery. Mine is showing 120 miles per charge and I don't drive it particularly steadily

Is that motorway though or do you have the benefit of a fair amount of regen braking, out of curiosity?

Just reading my test drive thread again, I was getting around low 70s range on the Rex I had for a few daysb providing I stuck to sub 70mph. 50% uplift is good but I reckon it would be very close on the motorway.

Thanks for the replies.

I've placed an order for March delivery before the VED increases.
As mentioned not much discount, but managed to get the service pack and a bmw watch for the wife thrown in.

All my usage would be m1, m25, 6am starts. I had couple of hours in a new Rex and drove fairly inefficiently and did 70 miles on dual carriageway, motorway, range was still showing 30 left on electric when I gave it back.

Reading on the net people seem to be getting 100m easily on electric, so 110m shouldn't be a problem with the Rex as backup.

Question about the suite leather, is it a dark brown, can't tell in the brochure?
I will have the bmw charger fitted at home, no charging at work.
Hopefully in few years time we will have lots of i models to choose from.

Luke.

Suite leather is brown and a really nice option. Comes with a stitched leather Dash as well

Thanks.
I have a couple of weeks to finalise spec, but it's looking like it will be fully optioned as everything seems to be in packages.

One dealer I enquired at didn't tell me about the tax increase if registered from 1st April, so had to ring around to get a March build slot.
Tax would've been £140 per year, then additional £310 for 5yrs because of the plus £40k list price, before grant and discounts.

Nice.

Just looking today and see that Bowker are doing 0% APR on BEV i3 with £3120 deposit contribution.

Think I might go for it, the maximum range I need in a day is 80 miles so the BEV should do that even in the winter right?!

yes, you should be fine with that. the worst i saw on my old 22aH was 60, so the 33 should be a worst case scenario of 90, i am currently seeing over 100 in this cold weather.

I'm currently running a Mitsubishi PHEV which is due for replacement this September. It's served me well and I have no complaints. I fancy a change so naturally the i3 and 330e are contenders. I have a Charging, tethered cable, unit at home (Polar) which I'm assuming will work with either of the BM's??

I have visited my local BMW dealer and spoke to the corporate guy who stated he wouldn't have any problem supplying an i3 even though they are not an i dealer as such.

Although this is a company car I want to secure the best deal. Should I decline his offer and go to an i dealer? I would require the Rex model.

Details: 10000 miles pa 36 months. What sort of deal to you think is possible?

Thanks

A Phev will have a type 1 charging plug (J1772) whereas the BMW requires a Type 2 (Mennekes), so you'll need the plug changed to use your tethered charger...

Hello.

I've been looking at hybrids/EVs now for a while, and took a REX for a spin yesterday.

I was very impressed smile

A few questions, sorry if they have already been answered.

I'm 6'2" and 17.5 stone. What are the seats like on longer runs? They feel a bit deckchair.

Anyone have a lab sized dog they transport in an i3? Boot sees a bit small and rear windows don't open.

I live in a south Devon. Is the auxiliary heater worth getting considering it is mostly mild here? It wasn't on the list of offered options for my salery sacrifice scheme for some reason.

The options I have gone for are:

Special solid - Fluid black
LED headlights
Park assistant pack
Sun protection glass
Electric glass sunroof
Comfort access system

Unsure which interior to go for, is the leather worth the extra £2k?

The blurb says you can charge to 80% from empty on a three pin in 10 hours. How long does it take to get to 100%?

My commute is 60 miles return over windy up and down Moor roads. It seems perfect for this car, would others agree? Can't plug in at work.

A few times a year we go to Scotland, 500 miles each way. What would the i3 be like on a run like this or would we be better taking the old V70 tdi we have which does 50mpg?

Thanks.

The pro nav/media is well worth having.

Not really fussed about media/music, only really listen to Radio 2.
What does the pro nav give you over whatever is standard?

Wider screen, looks great. Not up on the latest bits in particular someone else might be better to advise.

When I was looking there was a pack which gave pro media, HK and something else, forget now.
