On that basis a honda NSX looks like a better bet, will be 2 years further down the road on hybrid tech for a similar delivery option. Just won't have 4 seats...

I own an i3 (so see one most days), and I love it.

Having driven the i8, I wouldn't change my i3 for one ...

For my view:

The i3 is a real solution to the short range city car, and it's amazingly tactile and practical.

By comparison the i8 is a tax concession for a Supercar, rather than an electric car to out-do conventional Supercars. The control surfaces were not linear, and I found it less tactile than the i3. Hence a step backwards rather than a step forwards.

On the other hand, my "supercar" is a Cayman R --- so maybe a tough act to follow.

I'm 6'2" and I could sit behind my adjusted drivers seat? Not spacious but better than a 911 not as good as an FF...

I agree - went into dealer thinking i8 to replace my DB9 -came out with an i3 -so impressed after 3k miles.Much better value and a real electric car which can take 4.

Did you actually get in there'!

I'm 5' 8" and I could only just get in the back really uncomfortably and nearly crippled myself getting out.

Well there lies a tail... When I Ordered and then speced my car I was told Oct/Nov of this year... but I was then informed in August ALL first production cars will have the "pure impulse design package" on them (£12,200) which I have not opted for so I'm now expecting it the beginning of February...! grumpy

It's sounding increasing like the Pure Impulse package is a bit of a queue jumping tax, yet I wasn't told that by the dealer, they knew I wanted the car asap and none of the other seven they had taken orders for had been specified with it either.

Audi did the same with the R8,i had one of the very first cars but had to have all the options because they said all first production cars were all built with full spec's which i didnt mind too much as they were fairly sensible... but i can't see £12K in the pure impulse design package...! So February it is...!

March for me. Ordered in August. No pure impulse package. Does not do anything to jump the queue right now.

Do you ever get an update from BMW? It would be nice to hear something occasionally, even if it was just to let you know that things are running to schedule.

BMW took me to the Fat Duck at Bray a couple of weeks ago - about 25 future owners & O/Hs, maybe 10 big cheeses from BMW UK, inc the MD, we had Sales Director & Marketing Director on our table of 6, very interesting to quiz them both. The idea was to keep us sweet while we wait for delivery.

I got an email from my sales guy about 3 weeks ago with a screenshot of an update on my order status, confirmed for April.

No complaints here, sorry! paperbag
