...and who's getting an i8?

Anyone got a view on the rear seats and fitting child seats back there?
My impression was that it could be done but it would be a tight fit. Anyone tried it?
I am toying with replacing my 911 with an i8 and wondering if it will work.
I need to get down to a dealer and check but if someone has already ruled it out it would be good to know:.:

If your kids are small and very bendy you might be OK, they need to be big enough they don't need a car seat, but not too big, my 13yo lad didn't fit.
Mine are both under 3 - so it's a case of whether they are wide / deep enough to fit forward facing seats...
I was using the 911 as my DD but now child #2 is at nursery the 911 doesn't work so it just sits there and I drive them in the FF.
Thing is I can't really use the FF for work like the 911 - it's a bit too OTT. I can see the i8 bring an ideal daily if I can see it works with little ones
Am probably stretching it though and an i3 is the smart choice - just so little on the market I am suspicious of buying one. I figure there will be a massive dump of ex lease ones soon...

BMW are keeping up tradition then.. The original E31 8 Coupe was no better,my two sons always had to sit in the back with their legs firmly crossed in the seat.. So it may be grandchildren in my i8.. so far, if you order your car now, you won't get it before dec 2015. So price dump there may be, but not just yet.
Worryingly, not according to this bloke: http://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t...AndyDubbya said:

If you're looking to make a quick buck, its probably too late. If you want to spend 90-110k on a car that will get attention AND hold it value over the next 3 years, I suspect a Manual V12 Aston Martin Vantage will be a better bet.

I'v gone for Ionic Silver with Blue accents and a few options but not the "pure impulse package" I didn't think that was good value at £12,200...! Had I gone for it I could have had my car in November because all early production cars have it...! What spec is yours?
Sophisto (dark) Grey, blue accents, Carpo Dark (black) leather, 625 (thin 10-spoke) wheels, driving assistant/surround view/high beam assist, universal remote, blue seat belts (yeah, I know). Just to be clear - when I mentioned a price 'dump' I was meaning on the i3. They have been out longer and there is a higher allocation but fewer used on the market. I suspect nearly all i3s are going on lease plans - and so in mid 2015 is figure they will start appearing on the s/h market after 1 and 2 year leases start to end.
This makes me wary of buying an early used i3 for cash at or near list as is being asked...
The i8 will lose value like any 100k performance car. I love how it looks though, but given the supply vs demand situation at launch and the number of used around at or near list it's hard to see anything other than a normal depreciation curve.
That's fine - it's a sports car that's made to be driven...

There was an article that said the order book was circa 400 cars which was over a years allocation. They've been out for what - 6 months - so less that 200 cars in the UK? There are 30 for sale with minimal miles including cars for circa 105k which is base list price - 1 in 7 for sale. I'm therefore not surprised that orders are being cancelled as you're unlikely to make a profit which was the sole reason some rushed to buy. There are also plenty that were buying them because of the tax situation but from the posts I've read they misunderstood the rules (you still effectively only get tax relief on the depreciation even of you can write off more in Year 1 and not half price as some thought - duh) and so might be having second thoughts.

I had a manual v12v which i sold to get the i8... Funny you say that!If you've got one, enjoy it and its not like you're going to be parking next to another one at Waitrose. It was just very cumbersome, not a great cruiser and too heavy for the track. Amazing car but i grew tired of its niggles, thirst and discomfort too quickly.
Call me an idiot but i much prefer my i8. Each to their own i guess.

It's not even close to me he FF in terms of rear seat space and there is just no boot at all.I was using the 911 as my DD but now child #2 is at nursery the 911 doesn't work so it just sits there and I drive them in the FF.

I can't see you'd get a child seat in the back of an i8.

Surely the answer is to get an i3 on lease whilst the deals are good, far cheaper than an i8.This makes me wary of buying an early used i3 for cash at or near list as is being asked...

I'm seriously thinking about an i3 or a Tesla, zero BIK !

You need to check your facts... BIK is zero now but not after AprilI'm seriously thinking about an i3 or a Tesla, zero BIK !
I also never mentioned 100% first year allowance against corporation tax.
Like to try and pull me up on anything else I haven't said?

Mm...
And when did I accuse YOU of misunderstanding corporation tax? Raw nerve?

I'm testing a tesla next week, but I think it's just a bit too much for a daily driver and its gong to depreciate like a brick.I'm seriously thinking about an i3 or a Tesla, zero BIK !
An i3 fits the intended budget, but then so does something like a classic and a cheap barge. I can hear a lexus ls430 and a lotus Esprit v8 making a decent case for the budget too...
The BIK even after April is only 5% or something, next to nothing, let's just say that.
Makes it a ver attractive company car , but not attractive enough for me to have one.
Tony, you've got an FF, you can't be that worried about depreciation, I'd get an i3 if I were you, great thing.
