i3 Range and the weather

My REx is still doing 54 miles @ 70mph on the A1M each morning but with noticeably less reserve than in the summer on colder mornings. In ideal conditions I was getting back with 30% battery left, this morning it was more like 10%. Stats were : vehicle fully preconditioned before departure. 4 degrees outside air temperature, thick fog in places, climate set to 24 degrees, heated seat and Radio 4 on. Very pleasant. Eco Pro mode, but with several bursts of hard acceleration en route. Can't remember the efficiency percentage which has now been erased by a subsequent short, fast journey.
We haven't really had a winter since 2012/3 though so the real test is yet to come.
One red top predicted coldest winter for 100 years to hit us this season - it was the Daily Star so highly reliable. We haven't really had a winter since 2012/3 though so the real test is yet to come.
On the plus side Turbo petrol or Turbo diesel Engines enjoy more power during winter due high higher air density
I was down to 53 miles showing for a full charge this morning. Ac off so max mileage. As soon as I put the heating to 13 degrees and bum heaters on 2 it was 50 miles
I'm going to have to put it in the garage and pre condition the battery to see what difference that makes
It's not very good, is it?

Would be interested to see how much difference the pre-conditioning makes but 53 miles is not good enough.I'm going to have to put it in the garage and pre condition the battery to see what difference that makes

I have started overnighting her in in an outbuilding though and using the portable charger instead of the Schneider.

The BEv should still breeze 60 miles with its greater efficiencies. Should!
Its a shame the i3 doesn't have quick clear which could be done with preheat then just wear jumpers . mph1977 said:

You can get them on loads of cars including BMWs MINI. There's no reason why it couldn't be added to the options list on the i3.

There is a reason as mentioned above, it was patented by Ford and only used by them and their brands unless licensed. I don't know how much current they draw though.

Just got home after zeroing trip computer - 43 miles with 2 remaining. So I have to start sweating with a 25 mile round trip, do I?So I have definitely noticed a drop in the energy efficiency of my Leaf over the last little while. Today I switched on all the ECO/B stuff to get maximum range and the commute that was taking under 40% of the battery still took 45%. Without the toys switched on it is taking 55%!
There's plenty of range for my purposes, still, but if I had a commute nearer the capabilities of the car I'd be worried...

Perhaps that was part of the deal when Ford sold Land Rover? Anyway, as mentioned. Not needed.
Greg that is poor. Were you in standing traffic? I had 63 miles on the clock this morning when the REx fired as I was pulling into an Ecotricity Rapid. Couldn't switch the engine off annoyingly. Conditions hadn't been good either. Heavy rain all the way, a lot of spray and standing water. Eco Pro, cruise set to 70, occasional burst to 85.

Why do people keep saying this it is not true. Range Rover for example.

Ford owned Jaguar from 1989 and Land Rover from 2000 ... the use of Quickclear on JLR products stems from that period.
