I understood the Zoe came with a free 32A charger installation for all retail customers? Zoe wall box
it is somewhat of a misunderstandingany ev owner can qualify for a free charger install, it is nothing to do with renault (or any other manufacturer), it is a government funded programme run through the OLEV (office of low emission vehicles)
going the renault recommended route to British Gas will likely lead to a longer wait for an install than other routes
On the brightside I booked with BG earlier today and was given a date of 8th January for an install in Central Scotland. This is fine for me as I'm not expecting to see the car much before then.

AIUI you can get a 32A on the OLEV funded scheme anyway

I've had a total electrical shutdown this morning when I've tried to move the car, all sorts of warning messages on the dash "electrical system failure" "charging impossible" etc.
Not very happy
Bloody hell, you've had st luck with it! At least you're still mobile though. Not very happy

So are you saying that anyone can install the charge point, we're not obliged to use British gas?
I put down my deposit 8 days ago and heard nowt from anyone yet!
well no, not anyoneI put down my deposit 8 days ago and heard nowt from anyone yet!
but any installer that is approved by the appropriate OLEV scheme can
I would say get in touch with Rolec and ask them to put you in touch with a local installer of their kit
I am using phoenixworks in Leeds (on recommendation on here)

Any advantage to using a supplier other than British Gas? Are the Rolec products technically better?
personally, the less I have to do with British Gas (currently nothing at all) the happier I ambut that might just be me and I am sure they have plenty of successful EV chargepoint installs under their belt

Has everyone who got a zoe on pcp also got gap insurance?
If not, why not?
Not yet, but I'm planning to take it out. The dealers offering is £199, ALA's quick quote based on a £16,000 invoice is £83 for 'Back to Invoice +' cover. They have another option 'Vehicle Replacement Plus+' which is quoted as £133,. I think I'm going to go for the ALA cover but, tbh, I'm a bit confused over why the Vehicle Replacement Plus+ cover is an extra £50 (60%)...If not, why not?

What info do you need to know in order to work out if it's required or not. Bearing in mind I have no finance documents as yet so don't know what the retail price, GFV figure.
Other threads on PH suggest a 2yr PCP doesn't really need GAP insurance at all?

I'm planning to ring my insurance co tomorrow and see what they say anyway.
How long is the cable from the British Gas box? Read on-line its 3.5m which seems a bit short!
Thinking of getting a Zoe next year, but we are just buying a house without a drive and wondering if we would get away with a cable over a path if I used a 'rubber ramp' over it? If so, I just need a cable that is long enough.

I am running the Paris marathon in April, we were going to drive over in the people carrier. Unfortunately its a Renault Espace, and hence completly unreliable I live in Herts just off J6 of the M25 would it be feasible to take the Zoe?
