So, 3 hours into Zoe ownership, my car appears to be borked.

I charged it at a rapid charger which worked fine, then went to my local ASDA and used one of the Polar posts, only to get 'Charging Impossibe' appear on the car.

No matter what I did, trying all sorts of things on Google, it wouldn't charge, tried 3 other charge points, including the Rapid that I tried earlier, still didn't work.

So it's back to the dealership this morning, also discovered the parking sensors don't work too rage

Some of the Polar posts can cause issues. Try it at a known good charger, should reset it apparently.

Doesn't sound like the same issue I had as my issues rendered the car immobile.

Hope your issues are no more serious than a software glitch.

Sorry to hear some of the issues cropping up. I had a couple of charging impossible messages when I first got it. The granny cable I bought has never been happy in my work car park or my garage - but again likely to be the socket not the lead as it worked perfectly at the dealer (obviously....)

Just a couple of hints when charging that might help those with teething troubles.

1) ensure you follow the correct sequence of plugging what into what and when (read the manual). As I use exclusively on street chargers the routine that always works is car, then charger, then walk away once charging has started and let the car lock itself.

2) ensure the lead into the car is plugged firmly and straight in (several owners have had issues at Mway rapid chargers with the cable pulling to one side)

3) related to this, I read on another forum that several owners now spray the elec contacts with alcohol before charging to remove and surface corrosion. Those who have taken delivery of cars that were sat in a field might want to clean the contacts. Clearly I don't recommend spraying alcohol over high voltage components but it has worked for some people.

By comparison mine now seems charmed - I drove to work this morning at -3 C having defrosted automatically before getting in and it is currently charging at an on street charger.

Not good, let us know what happens with it.

We we are potentially picking ours up this afternoon but with no charge point install are yet I'm very concerned it has just won't work.

Nearest charge point (asda) is 7 miles away, not sure I can string a weeks shopping out to 3hrs. Ikea is 12 miles away for the fast charger. Keeping the other car insured while the charge point is sorted will cost another £80ish.

Not sure if I should tell them to hang on to it for a bit or just go get it?

Fingers crossed it gets sorted, luckily I've still got another car, as my charging point to get installed (which I haven't been able to book at Rolec are shut over Christmas!!)

I've also asked them to replace the dash top as per:

And I've just been on the blower to renault customer services. They are going to see if I can borrow a 3pin charge cable while the point is installed. I'll be very impressed if they do, and it works!

The fault has been narrowed down to a faulty traction battery, so a new one will arrive at Renault on Monday, it's possible (according to Bristol Renault) that I may be on the road again on Tuesday.

Good to hear they've diagnosed the problem and that you're nearly back on the road.

I wonder how much work is involved in changing the traction battery - I've read the cars were designed with future upgrades in mind (battery) allowing them to be modified to benefit from new technology. Interesting, as to me this additional effort suggests the new technology may already be under development.

Renault UK are ordering one in for me, and I get to keep it! Free of charge....result. Their customer services lady was very helpful indeed.

The dealer flat refused.

I rang Renault Customer services and the person I spoke to was booth very pleasant and understanding of our plight. She is ringing me tomorrow to confirm the cable has been delivered to Sheffield and I can then go pick it up (from Leeds). I was mighty impressed that she said I could then keep it as a gesture of goodwill....that's a bloody expensive gesture!

. .

Just got the car back now. They are properly cool little things, really pleased with how it looks, drives and all the gadgets are a tremendous step up from anything we've owned before. So, first impressions are. It's ace! Lets see how it pans out though.....

Crap interior shot for you...

Gave Zoe her first wash today. Two bucket method of course.

Now I don't mean to speak ill of a lady, but for a petite car she's got a fat arse! ('twas a dirty one too) All clean for the new years pickups tonight!

1st charging point disaster.

Registered with Polar and got the app on the phone sorted, credited the account (which is st as the only point we're likely to use is a free one!).

My wife got there and it wouldn't work. Rang the helpline and there is some issue with compatibility with Zoes and an "earth leak" was mentioned? Fek knows? Anyway. On 50% now. Hopefully picking up the granny cable sat morning.

If that doesn't materialise then we are fooked when back at work next week.

The charger must have a good earth with a low resistance or Zoe won't play. Home chargers are pretty much a safe bet, but remote ones with a spike in the ground style earth often are often outside the allowed resistance Zoe allows. The fix seems to relax the spec a bit.

Its a good thing in that if the charger fails and goes live your less likely to get fried but it also means more often than not Zoe won't like them.

Agree on the adding credit to use free chargers stness. The app also crashes often. It also would not work with the (free) charger in Cambridge, suspect it will be less hassle with the RFID card.

The ideal would be a version of the app for the Zoe dashboard, does this exist? Never seems to be a data connection when I play with that bit of the car.

So I've just been over to Ikea leeds.

The charge points there are listed as:-

I plugged it into the AC point (had the choice of AC/DC) thinking it was a superfast charge point so should have been 30mins to get something over 80%. Anyway, car reported 2hr 35mins to fully charge. I only gained 10% or so in the 40mins I spent in Ikea.

Net result being,

Left home with 34%
Returned with 31% (and a peice of furniture)

Confused.
