I disagree. I think at current prices they are a great buy and are a much better used proposition than any internal combusion engine as there is much less to go wrong and far fewer consumables. I think the depreciation will be reduced significantly once people switch on to the benefits of EV. In the UK the used car market is 2.5 times bigger than the new car market, as confidence grows over the next few years there wont be enough used EV cars to meet demand. New tech will no doubt move more people from ownership to leasing but there are still a significant % of people who want to pay for things and own them.
I suspect you will also be able to upgrade the battery once the tech improves, you can already get individual cells replaced.

I'm guessing there will be a fair few of us on here that took advantage of the excellent Leaf deals available in March 2015 with a 2 year PCP. What are your plans when the car goes back in March next year?
We do fancy another Leaf but having quickly looked at the costs of taking on another 2year PCP for one, the maths just don't add up. We will have paid around £4500 over 2 years for the current car, dealers are quoting circa £7k for a similar deal today.
Are we likely to see Nissan heavily supporting deals again on a new Leaf before March 2017?
Our Leaf will go back and likely replaced by a Tesla model S. The Leaf has proved the concept works for us, the Tesla should deliver the real world range that we've felt the Leaf has lacked. We do fancy another Leaf but having quickly looked at the costs of taking on another 2year PCP for one, the maths just don't add up. You can get a 2nd generation for under £7k now and lots of banks/finance companies offer PCP's/loans. Overall cost will be similar to the deal listed and they are a big improvement over the earlier Jap cars. The 2nd Gen British made Leafs also have the better/more efficient heater (on Acentas and above) and other little tweaks that would probably make them a better long term prospect. I'd agree with the concept of taking out a loan and buying one of them rather than going for an early car on this deal.
I can see why the headline price is quite appealing though.

I agree the Gen 2's are much better and they don't have the horrible light interior of the gen 1's.I can see why the headline price is quite appealing though.
hi all, if it were possible to buy a 30kw leaf Acenta for £200'ish/month, would that be ok? I don't really know what I should be paying. Oh yes, it's on a 3 year PCP deal. I've never had a new car before so don't want to get it wrong. ta muchly. sorry if it seems a little like a riddle but i'll explain later in the thread when I have more time to post.
