Just a couple of weeks left to wait for mine now. Sounds like it's the perfect combo between performance and economy. If I can return 48mpg I'll be happy as that's the same as the current bus.
Same for me; due 4th of May biggrin

Also like me, a return of 48mpg on average would be great. I managed 68+ mpg with the demo car on my daily commute, so if I can get over 45 mpg for longer distance, I will be happy.

So what do you think it'll do on a 200mile run. Full charge before starting? 40mpg average? sat on total motorway, 70mph.

I'll find out in a couple of weeks, but I could get 45mpg out of a c200 I had on loan a while back. I would hope for better than that.

From what I've read on the Mercedes forum (link near the top of this thread), the long distance mileage isn't great. By not great, I mean in comparison to a diesel. As far as petrol goes, it is pretty fuel efficient but it won't reach the 50-60 mpg you get from a eco diesel barge.

Most of the feedback is that long motorway cruises will see a return of 35-45 mpg, depending on how you drive it. Using the sat-nav (which the car uses to calculate electric use over the journey) and keeping it around 70mph will see mpg in the 40's. Anything spirited or driving it like a diesel will see a lower return.

I think once you've been driving it for a few months, you will adapt your driving style to the car and see consistent high mpg returns with little conscious thought.

Supermono is probably the best person to ask for a real world perspective; he's had his for a month or so now, so should be able to give pretty accurate feedback. He has a thread somewhere...

Thanks.

Its the BIK value that really helps things along, also the total spec of the car. Should be nice on the motorway with air suspension and all the toys etc.

Snap, the BiK is very difficult to ignore and easily offsets the slight increase in long range mileage for me. Even better if you have a fuel card.

Just as a follow on from my previous post; Supermono had this to say regarding long range driving:

"Out of town on 100+ mile journeys it's still fairly poor if you tank it, 35-40 maybe a normal/slightly above average motorway speeds, but 60 possible if you don't mind taking your time and doing 65-70."

If might be worth giving his thread a read; it contains lots of useful info:

ETA - I had a demo car a few weeks back whilst waiting for my order to turn up (3 weeks to go bounce). It really is a lovely place to be and is so comfortable when cruising along. The suspense really soaks up the bumps in comfort mode and stiffens up when in sport.

More importantly; my God, does it shift!!!!

Two weeks into ownership now and 800 miles down. Not done a long motorway journey yet, but one of my commutes is a 74 mile round trip with no charging at work. On this I averaged about 50mpg overall over a mixture of A roads and A303 dipual carraigeway.

It's weekend use where it comes into its own, doing short journeys and running the kids about is mainly done on electric. As I say 800 miles in and only filled up once and indicating I have 200 mile range left. Happy boy so far. Oh, and yes the Sport+ mode is bloody good fun wink

Thought I'd give the lease company call to ensure all was well. I was advised of a revised delivery.....

I'm now picking it up from MB Oxford on Tuesday next week!!!

Any real pics of the car inside?

I'm testing one on Sat. The leasing agent I have to use has said a 5 month wait. I guess this might be coming down?

5 months is pretty damn good to be fair; there are guys on the MB forum that had to wait 9-12 months due to demand. I was told 7 months when I put my order in, this is now down to 4, so the lead time is dropping.

So, had a test drive today. Really really nice quality inside.

Picked it up with zero battery charge, put it on the engine charge setting thing, then e save(I think). 20 mile trip, ended up at 37ish mpg, it was going up though... a longer run and just using it in normal petrol mode on the motorway where it'll charge off breaking would have seen an easy 40+mpg.

Very smooth electric/engine transmission, wasn't short of go. Gearbox felt lovely. Great spec car as standard.

Think i'm going to go for one. smile

We have 3 C350e's at work - 2 estates and 1 saloon (mine). It is a lovely place to be inside, mine is premium plus, and is a very good drive (certainly comparable to my previous E91 335d M-sport). Lovely ride, nice steering (far better than many electric setups I have driven - golf, mini, F30/F31) and handling is good - much better than I expected.

Economy is massively dependent on your journey profile. My 22mile b-road commute is 90+mpg assuming full charge - 99.9mpg is as high as display goes and I have done it once. Pushing on and it still manages 65mpg where the 335d would be 34mpg. On longer trips it is comparable to the 335d 35-40mpg which I think is astonishing for a petrol with this performance. Last full tank did 437miles at 45.5mpg - 10mpg higher than my 335d averaged.

At the moment I am only charging once per day and after 1600miles the average economy is 41mpg - again higher than my 335d. One of the estates has done 3,500miles in 7wks at an average of 48mpg (he drives more steadily than me!) generally charging twice a day.

Clearly BIK, 100% FYA and government grant are massive plus points for the company and company car driver but it is actually a really good car.

Picked the car up this morning from MB Oxford. Had to wait a bit when I arrived, but the guy doing the handover was a pleasant enough chap so I didn't mind too much.
Handover took a while and still didn't cover everything. For example can you use the air suspension to alter the ride height? The guy didn't know. SAme story with streaming audio via Bluetooth.
Any how here's a few pics. Will post some more about my initial impressions later on.

Looks great - same colour as my saloon.

Yes you can alter ride height with the air suspension - not adjustable just a raised position. Button below driving mode toggle on left of command controller

2 weeks in and just under 1000 miles in.
So far so good. The only downside is the MPG which is now sitting at around 40 mpg.
I stopped for a charge at birchanger green last week and had a chat with another c359e owner. The long and short is things should get a bit better as things lossen up. His was on around 10k and is averaging 50+ now. It sounded like he spent a lot more time charging during the day then I will be able to, but I'm now fairly confident I will get my 45mpg.
In every other respect the car is fantastic. I'm even planning to give it a clean this weekend. Something of a first for a company car.

Can any of you chaps confirm if you can pre-heat the car?
Presumably it would need to be plugged in, but it would be a major boon to me in the winter if it does.

Yes you can and no it doesn't need to be plugged in. It needs minimum of c10% charge or is deactivated. I haven't used it when very cold but cabin heating, screen clearing, heated rear window and heated seats for a given departure time did use 10-15% charge.

You have 3 options to set it:
(1) Program the car to activate it every time you unlock the car. You can specify driver side seat heating only or both.
(2) Manually by the Mercedes-me phone/tablet app or computer web portal
(3) Automatically via the Mercedes-me phone/tablet app or computer web portal - you tell the car your departure time and it does the rest

Are you buying it private or leasing it?

If you're leasing, double check that the lease company will allow you to activate the Mercedes Connect function. There has been quite a few people complaining as they've been told by their leasing company that they won't activate it due to 'data protection'....

If you're buying private, ignore the above and enjoy the car thumbup

It wouldn't be a lease, but I would still need to make sure it's activated so thanks for the advice.

Still torn between this and a 330E. The BMW has lower BIK, but I would prefer an estate and I like the idea of the air suspension for my speed humped commute.
