Andydf I think you are correct. Using save does seem to reduce the mpg quite considerably. I was fortunate to have been able to use a charger at ikea for the past. 2 days and although I had a 40m trip home, leaving it in auto drive mode has given me much better mpg. In
addition the 'Gallons saved' on the app increased by 0.4 on both days so instead of being stuck on 2.2 gallons for ages, I'm now on 3 gallons saved. What I think this means is 'save' mode is only useful if you are fully charged and you want to keep that charge for later, as opposed to what I thought it meant which was recharging the battery via the engine. It also seems that the gallons saved on the app only increases if you actually use a charger! It doesn't change if you are trying to use save mode to charge the battery. I'm big and ugly enough to be proved wrong, so feel free to disagree, but I suppose we,re all Guinea pigs to a degree as to the best way to use this car efficiently.

Think about it this way, burning petrol to directly power the car involves only a single set of losses, burning the petrol to generate electricity to then store in the battery to then use to power the car adds many processes that are not 100% efficient.
The only time it is more efficient to charge the battery from the engine is when there is some excess torque being generated that isn't needed to move the car.
Well, looks like I might get one after all. It reappeared on our car list yesterday so have placed an order and now just waiting to see if it gets approved. Fingers crossed - work cancel them if the lead time is over 6 months!

Originally quoted delivery March 2017, but he received an email yesterday bringing that forward to December, so you may be lucky.
Had the dreaded call today, my lease rate has gone up £40 per month as they (GB Contracts) didn't place the order (Feb) in time so the government grant has halved to £2500 which means they pass the extra to you! Needless to say my order will be cancelled, shame as its being built now! To me, a deal is a deal, don't hike your prices because of your cock up!!

Brilliant, a few days before I did.
I simply don't understand what it is about this car that lease brokers can fk up so monumentally, this is my second attempt at ordering one.
Originally ordered in December!
Not all brokers are that bad. We ordered a couple of cars at the end of January and they were available at the start of April. Shame about the company you used, hopefully you have a signed order and being their mistake they will meet the shortfall. Having said that, alarm bells should have rung as I recall them openly marketing on the PistonHeads forums and claiming they had a direct link to the factory in Germany....I simply don't understand what it is about this car that lease brokers can fk up so monumentally, this is my second attempt at ordering one.

Yeah, here's hoping. BMW were quoting a q4 build slot when I spoke to them yesterday so it's going to be close!Originally quoted delivery March 2017, but he received an email yesterday bringing that forward to December, so you may be lucky.
Fail back is a very loaded 420d gran coupe so either way I'll be happy, just paying more tax on the 4 series.

For all who have been asking for real world mpg. My daily commute is 40 miles mostly B roads, a tiny bit on the A road with speeds mostly 50 to 60 mph. I start with 100% charge every morning use Eco mode and satnav, averaging about 65 mpg which does include occasional heavy foot for overtaking.
Update from my previous post. After 6 weeks of driving mpg has gone upto 75 on the same commute of 40 miles with one full charge For all who have been asking for real world mpg. Hello
Newbie here, I am due company car renewal in January 17. Currently drive v60 d4 which is excellent for mpg as I am getting 55mpg and nearly 800 miles to a tank.
Annual mileage is 40,000
I am obviously attracted by the Low bik for the 330e but I am concerned about the overall range of the car.
What are you guys getting out of the car in total? I have to pay for fuel and then claim it back so for the 330e I would get the hrmc 13p. For me to break even I really need to be getting 320 miles in total.
My company will not reimburse for home charging costs but I am prepared to soak that cost due to the very low bik.
My only other option is to go for a 2.1 diesel like a merc as I would get more per mile back. My colleagues have mercs and they are making around £20 profit per tank. This over a year for me makes about £1200.
The diesel for me makes more practical sense but I can't ignore the low bik of the 330e or even the Passat gte

I cover about 40k per annum too, got my 330e in June, driving to and from work at 33 miles each way with a full charge I am getting 19 miles electric and averaging mid 80 to the gallon so will be around 700 to a tank. I have just been on a long trip to Poland and on the autobahn in Germany without charging it was down to a refuel around 220 miles each time............but a big smile as it pulls all the way to the limiter at 146mph on the clock.
