I posted a few weeks ago that I had a full tank of fuel and full battery and it was given me a range of only 250 miles not good

So I rest the trip computer to zero and driven till the petrol light came on charging every day I got to 400 miles with a range still of 43 miles with a full battery my driving as been mixed light right foot and some heavy right foot used the sat nav on all journeys some Eco pro and sport very impressed not been to a petrol station for 2weeks £46 to fill up ??
Great news, I was a little concerned I may have to stop and fill up during each journey. in my case I doubt the batteries will help much, I will start with a full charge but as the journey is then all motorway I'll be depending on the ice. I will also have to use the ice to recharge the batteries as my office there and the hotels I stay in do not have charging points (am trying to work on that).

The hybrid still makes sense for me as the local trips are all for my pocket but the long journey has the mileage covered by work anyway.
You need to be careful using the ICE to charge the battery, its not an efficent way of doing it, the 330e did 275miles on ICE battery only, motorway work when I had the demo. if your on a motorway sharpish a fully charged battery won't last long on it.

It will depend if you are using Android or an iPhone but Spotify doesnt work through the BWM Conneted Android App. Apparently the 7 Series is the only one were spotify works on the Android. I think I read it works for iPhones though.

Android auto would be been fantastic, I looks like they are introducing Apple CarPlay soon on new models. Wonder if they would be updating software over the air to enable it on current models.
I use an iPhone so hoping it will be fine. I see CarPlay is now an option (was not there when I ordered) as will iDrive 5 be used when mine is built. Having had a play with carplay and all I am interested in (Spotify and siri) I don't think I am going to try and have carplay added. When its features are unlocked that more apps are available it will be more useful but that is most likely a decision for the next car.

Well I've just got approval to order my 330e M sport. Trouble im having is choosing a colour as I'd set my heart on Tanzanite blue but my company will only allow standard metallic paint.

My last 7 cars have alternated black or white and I see the car comes in little choice of colour.

so I've narrowed it down to two choices and can't decide !

White with black Dakota blue stitching and blue finisher.

Or

Mineral Grey with Oyster Dakota with black finsher.

Any thoughts or suggestions from those who have one ?

No - the 19" bi-colour orbits

Hi Pete, I was considering the Oyster but decided against it due to comments about the maintenance required. I have had similar colours and while the upkeep was more it was manageable. However my boss has it in his 4 series and regrets it, likewise several sales guys at the dealership were hesitant to recommend it. I decided to go with black with blue stitching to connect with the exterior colour (I chose E. blue).

M. Grey was my second choice and I think it looks really good, I liked the idea of saddle seats interior but few other people seemed to like it....including my wife :-(

As your last cars have switched between white and black I'd say the M. Grey. Just pop to your local dealership, they are bound to have both colours on some of the used cars if not in the showroom.
Thank you.

I have today decided on MG with oyster as I don't mind the extra cleaning required.

I'd like the red or brown but the wife hated both

Looks great, does the black kidney grill come standard or did you source it?

Would like to know as would like to copy :-)

It's a dealer fit option. Just ask your supplying dealer to fit when they're prepping it. They're pretty cheap - can't remember how much but less than £100 fitted (they might have done me a deal on the fitting come to think of it....)

think they did - I have been quoted £203 fitted and the parts price is £100. Other threads suggest they are easy to fit yourself.

Daft question, but how have you been keeping the extension lead dry where you plug it in to the BMW lead?

My car is arriving sooner than I thought and I still do not have a charge point outside...

As to colours, I went for Metallic Grey with red leather. Saw one in the showroom, and it looked stunning with that combo. Pictures online look a bit garish, but in the flesh its fantastic.

My own car is now apparently 'at sea'. How long did it take for people to receive their car from being 'at sea'? The reason I ask is that I am out of the country next week!

I keep the extension Inside the garage and the charge cable comes out under the door, also means I can just leave the charge cable coiled up at the door and nobody can steal it.

To answer someone else's question on the preconditioning, the car decides it's own temperature based on outside temperature, you can't set it yourself, it works perfect though whether it's a hot or cold day. Unfortunately the app dosent have an option for turning seat or steering wheel heating on yet but getting in the car when it's been preconditioned is very comfortable.

Thanks, that is helpful and hopefully that will be true for me too. I know which dealership is delivering the car so will have a chat with them, or even pop in as they are quite local.

I assume with the pre conditioning you can set the temp? Can you also configure if the heated seats/steering wheel should turn on or not?

I doubt my work will allow me to have the are as early as Jan (if it turns up then) but I am hoping I can get away with waiting to May, use my current car as a pool car for a few months or similar

Thanks
I don't think that you can set the temperature, I saw an earlier post and seem to recall that it automatically sets to 21 deg C, or something similar - I haven't found a way to set the seats or the steering wheel heating anywhere so am supposing that too is not possible. It probably cause a big draw on the battery so they left it off. Of course I am happy to be proved wrong if anyone knows better!

Thanks, I will just need to play and see what works best, the first 5 miles is town but almost all motorway from there so if I can only get 280ish then it will be tight for my 265 mile trip (not including any traffic diversions etc).

Hopefully at motorway cruising the ice is more efficient anyway. :-/

I normally like it colder, about 17-18 (warmer in winter to be fair) but I suppose it is at least a starting point to make the car either warmer or cooler and can adjust the final bit when you are in the car. Really think preconditioning will be a useful feature, many years ago I had a car with an alarm that could remote start the engine and it was great to know the car was at the temp you wanted with all the windows defrosted from the moment you got in.

Personally in my experience it just turns the climate 'on' so whatever it was previously set to will be how it runs. I know this as I accidentally turned the AC off (fans only) before getting out and it preconditioned without AC. I also left it on 16c one day and came out to frosty windows as it was so hot outside!

How long is the charging cable that comes with it? I'm trying to work out if I can do as you have done, my car isn't parked in front of the garage but to one side so this might save me having to get a socket fitted.

plenty of time for that whilst waiting an eternity for it to arrive. God knows what mileage my 13 plate Audi will be on by then, she's on 112,000 now !

You'll be fine.. I did 230mile each way journey last week. 50mpg on the way up with 70% battery.. not sure on the way down but started with about 7% battery and the needle was at half a tank after 230miles.. although half a tank seems to be closer to £30 whilst the bottom half is more like £15.. on that logic enough for around 340miles
