I ordered mine through Tusker at the beginning of October with it still showing May. I spoke to the BMW business line the other day, they were really helpful; asked me to give them a call mid Jan with the hope a vin number.

About October ish, they messed up my order which delayed it by 8 weeks. My current lease expires Jan 21st so keen to get my car asap.

Hi

I will be getting my M 330e in March and I hope someone will be able to answer my queries..
1. The car comes with a domestic charging lead, can anyone advise where to buy best value for money high capacity charging lead?
2. Is the petrol tank pressurised and is this standard for petrol 3 series or specifically because it's a hybrid and why?

Many thanks.

1. Type-2 16A 5m cable https://evonestop.co.uk/shop/audi/audi-r8-e-tron/p... (the car can't exploit a 32A cable and not sure why the link above says R8) - all their options are here https://evonestop.co.uk/product-category/bmw/bmw-3... - their delivery was good too. Be aware you can't get a higher capacity 3-pin domestic charging lead without a hideous cost.
2. It's not standard no. It's specific to this model afaik.
3. Did you know you can get up to a £500 grant off the government for a Type-2 charging point to be installed at your house? You need a letter of ownership off the leasing company if it's leased etc that you are the main driver. It's advisable to get one done so you have a lot less hassle. See here http://www.rolecserv.com/ev-charging/product/OLEV-... for a point and see the grant here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/governm... You can buy a wallpoint with a removable cable so you can take with you (untethered) or a non-removal tethered cable so you just coil it up at the point when you unplug.

Enjoy! I've only been an owner since November myself.

I agree with point 3, I think the net cost to me of the Rolec charging point was something like £245 and it charges in about 2 hours which is great for recharging between the shorter weekend trips ensuring more electric use.

And you have to get on with it (Point 3), as the grant is only available for a limited period of time after you take delivery. 5 months or so I think?

This is what has been offered to me for free. Anyone got and experience of these. what lead comes with the car to what is supplied here. Is there a locking system or power shut off so it can't be abused. Also, what is the top part and does the lead come off to put away.

I've got the top one. In retrospect I would go for the tethered version. You have to buy a cable otherwise, and it's a bulky cable that can be difficult to put away neatly. I never move mine from the box so the untethered isn't really beneficial. The top part is just a fuse.

Also had the Rolec 32A fitted and bought a coiled 5m cable so it can be kept in the car. Mainly for use at work when they get there pod installed.
I did buy a wall pod lock for £6 online it's ok but could be pulled open if someone really wanted to.

Can I ask how you managed to get it offered for free? I had to pay £129

If you live in Scotland, you can get an additional £500 grant from the Scottish Government for the installation, to sit alongside the £500 from the UK Government.

It were an offer from Tusker if I ordered by the end of September. My placement order went through about a week later due to a few online glitches but they still honoured the free charger.

Is the lead a permanent attachment to the charger on the tethered version? Or can it be detached from the box?
Also, mine would most likely be on a wall outside on an open front drive, is the lead ok with the weather elements? ( rain, frost and snow).

So I'm one week in and have done one longish trip of 187 mainly motorway miles and returned a 45mpg from a full charge. Unfortunately no where to charge before the return journey which leads me to my next question.

Wheres the best place to buy a cable for charging whilst out and about, best price I can find is £125 for a 16amp 5 metre cable?

Price sounds about right I paid £155 for a coiled 32A 5m. There is a link further up for £117 not sure if that includes shipping though

What's the advantage of 32a?

For all the difference in cost I thought it sensible to future proof a little bit.

In the case of the BMW 330e there is no advantage but I also went for a 32a as my next car will likely be electric and hopefully charge faster than the 330e
