Anyone else find it annoying that the battery charge percentage isn't permanently displayed on the dash? Even on the ecodrive display on the centre panel it isn't displayed. I like to know what level it is at and find myself pressing the obc button regularly to get rid of the nav display and show the percentage, but feel I shouldn't need to.

You do not have to do it like that and can leave your nav screen alone. I have my battery percentage displayed all the time, just above the mileage info + below the temp reading in the centre cluster of my dash. Set it with the obc control on the left indicator, it is there on start up every time and does not change unless you change it.

edit: I drive in comfort or sport, never awful eco.

Hi DragonflyTrumpeter, are you meaning turning off the Navigation Lane display that comes up at the bottom of the instrument panel so that it doesn't cover up the battery percent? I find the navigation info useful, but don't understand why there isn't a separate battery display that doesn't get covered to show other obc info.

I follow you now, confusion between nav display & lane, sorry. I have only used the satnav on a couple of occasions in the 7 months since I got the car but I remember the nav lane graphic replacing the info in the cluster. Perhaps it would make sense to have the battery state permanently displayed.

But in a bit part hybrid that goes for about 20 mins max on a full electric charge maybe bmw assume that the battery percent is not important if you are going anywhere smile

Yes I find it annoying as I set satnav to and from work (20 miles) for journey time as traffic and route can vary, so the lane display interrupts the battery display. I'm also surprised that the eco display doesn't have any info re battery charge on it, just the graphic that varies a bit depending on use.

Also in some earlier posts there was referral to the programmable buttions - I can't get the sports display to save (says can't be saved). Anyone else get this ?

Related to that has anyone ever managed to get near to max power on the sports display, or does traction control need to be off. The other day I tried a low speed kick down on a straight road and got nowhere near it

Yep. I found you can only save the page above, whatever that is. So the programmable button would take you to the driving displays page, and then have to select the sports display using the idrive controller.
That's what I recall anyway.

Yes that works and somehow by doing that I have managed to save the sports display i.e. button says sports display when touched and goes to it when pressed, but if I try on another unused button it still says cannot be saved. From a quick check for the items on that page some seem to save directly and some dont e.g. I couldn't save the trip computer directly, but I saved some new ones like the car manual / pictures. I previously saved the energy flow display directly though I vaguely remember having some problerms doing that.

Therefore wondering if when you save the page above does it remember the last display you use in that button ?

I've not got round to taking mine to the local dealer re really poor de-misting of door mirors that I suffer from, but happened to read today on an american website that eco changes the heated door mirror power, so will experiment this week leaving in comfort for my commute as I've been changing mine to eco every time, in case that explains it (though wouldn't need to if they pre-conditioned)

I take it you do know that you can turn off the direction icon on the dash panel and ergo have the battery percentage displayed all the time? I do find it overkill that you can have a pro-nav showing directions, the sat nav speaking to you and it on the dashboard too, so I turn the last one off.

Yep, believe this is covered on eco-pro climate control setting (you can change this when you turn it to eco-pro mode.

I was sat charging up after the gym, so was watching the charging on the dashboard - it said I had 27 miles of range. Tried turning on the heated seats - range stayed the same. Tried turning on the rear window heater - range stayed the same. Had the HK stereo on - range stayed the same. Turned on the heating.... range dropped to 21 miles!

Is the lead a permanent attachment to the charger on the tethered version? Or can it be detached from the box?
Also, mine would most likely be on a wall outside on an open front drive, is the lead ok with the weather elements? ( rain, frost and snow).
Just noticed this - not certain as I don't have that box, but I think the point is that's it permanent and can't be removed. They're designed for the weather - had mine out permanently for the last 6 months - no problems, looks like new.

If you live in Scotland, you can get an additional £500 grant from the Scottish Government for the installation, to sit alongside the £500 from the UK Government.
I got this. Quote from the installer was a ridiculous £1000 on the nose (strangely enough!) for a 32A Rolex untethered install. Someone's making a fortune out of this scheme.

However, it was completely FOC so I shouldn't really complain...

Hi all.

Just ordered a long test drive for one of these. Anyone know the current lead times on ordering via Leaseplan or similar?

Leaseplan tell me 16 weeks "for a 3 series" but can't comprehend that this model may be different.

My local BMW dealer Are unsure because if ordered now, it would go into a queue for a build slot so they couldn't tell me with any certainty but they do estimate circa 6 months.

Any recent know how from the members here?

Hi,

Excuse potentially asking these questions again, but with over 90 pages on thread i'm struggling to find answers. I'm hopefully ordering the M Sport 330E shortly, but wanted to check on the following:

Is the widescreen display only available with the media professional pack?
Is the only way to order the heated seats via the comfort pack?
Is the only way to order the front arm rest via the comfort pack?
Is the only way to order the 442M wheel option through the m sport plus pack

I think i've answered all my questions above, but just wanted to make doubly sure.

Thanks smile

Problem is that they change this all the time, but if you go on the BMW site and spec the car up you can answer all your own questions.

The widescreen display IS the professional media pack, the heated seats and armrest are available separately and the wheels are ONLY available with MSport plus pack.

when I ordered mine it wasn't much more on the lease for the comfort pack on top of the essential split folding rear seat option - and I actually find the heated steering wheel very good in the cold weather and tend to use it more than the heated seats

It was a bit much for me but do wish I'd gone for pro-nav with apple car play....

Different question on the M-sport - mine came with plain black keys and Sytner have told me that's standard. For anyone with the M-Sport version did you get M-Sport keys that it says on the BMW site are in the spec ?
