BMW 330e ordered...
Discussion
First drive to work today on a full charge. The 330e did 74.8MPG according to the web portal . My XF would only do 40MPG at the most and that was a 2l Diesel. It's more downhill on the way home (18 miles) but I've only got 40% battery left. The XF would do 50MPG that way. It will be interesting to see what the comparison is.
You have to laugh though. The 330e for me is a BIK saving as a company car driver, yet I'm addicted already to maximizing efficiency!!

Mine's coming 15 March, and while I get my fuel paid for and only selected it for the BIK saving, I am quite looking forward to megamiling it!
This will be my first company car as I have always gone private (used a bike mostly in the past) so this will be all round interesting.
I pay for the fuel as part of my month cost and also a personal contribution to the car as well but it was worth it for the all round costs being 7% BIK (9% by the time I actually get it).
Keep the stories coming in as for someone like me who will have to wait a good few months, I am living with this car through you guys.

You can improve considerably on that if you only have an 18 mile commute. I used to achieve 130mpg average on 27 mile commute, just moved closer to work commuting 16.5 miles and average 180mpg there and 300+ on the way home (downhill). You have to laugh though. Happened to be looking at the car manual on my phone last night for something else and noticed it said it would adjust electric performance whilst running in. I did get a lot better after about a week but put it down to getting used to the car and not pre conditioning properly but there may be something built in to the software as well. Enjoy the car - like you was a cost choice for me but love the car and can't see myself going back to a normal car now
Ordered in December, currently arrival date is estimated in just over a month. Just a quick question about the charging cables which come with the car. My test drive car only had a 3 pin connector. Is this standard? My work has car charging points but with the special car charging connectors.

good to know it's not just me I guess - mine's an iPhone 6 on iOS 10.2.1 looking at app reviews there seem to be a number of people saying it's broken, but from a week ago whereas mine just broke last night. Have emailed BMW i customer services so will see what they say. Pity as even though I don't like the app update re maps I still use it most days and logging into the portal via browser is long winded
App now working again (after re download as I deleted it). Still crap though....google maps option gone, only one journey stats remembered, no 7 day timer for pre-conditioning, no option to tailor what pre conditioning does (no heated door mirrors - why....) etc etc jez1987 said:

Yes only 3 pin as standard. Sounds like you'll need to buy type 2 to type 2 cable to charge at work and also most public charging points. About £150 for 32 amp cable but cheaper if you go with non future proofed 16amp. With Merc both cables come as standard but at least this way you get to keep cable for next car and can always flog it if you don't need it. If you do get lead worth looking into getting a proper charger fitted on the house whilst the grants are available as gives a faster charge, but depends on your usage and future car plans as to whether that's worth the outlayTonycv51 said:

Thanks. I think a type 2 to type 2 will work well. I am just moving house so once that is sorted I will 100% look into getting a proper charger fitted. Has anyone else got the professional sat nav with the google maps style traffic? I have it coming on mine but didn't get to use it much on my test drive. Any good? Also heard mix reviews on the sat nav's control of making your MPG as high as possible, any truth in that?

Thanks for the prompt. It wasn't working still for me this morning even though my phone had downloaded the update. I still had to delete and the-install which is strange. If you hadn't said it was working I'd still be waiting!Tonycv51 said:

How did you manage to view the 330e manual, Being due delivery anyday be nice to have a skim through manualEnjoy the car - like you was a cost choice for me but love the car and can't see myself going back to a normal car now
You download the Drivers Guide app, but then you need the last 7 digits of your VIN in order to be able to view the manual. Not sure why, other than that it customises the manual to the specific options that you have.
Given you haven't got a VIN yet, you could probably discretely get a VIN off the windscreen of one at your dealer?!

1,800 miles in and a new record this morning:
How? Contrary to popular advice, NO PRECONDITIONING, no heater, electric seats and Auto EDrive all the way.
I find if you precondition and then set off with no heater you get steamed up and need the heater if you want to see out. I've also tried switching between auto, max E and save throughout the journey and got nowhere near this mornings record. Just had to keep my coat on.

You're not joking. Very sad to see, in all honesty.

Check the rules of the charging point grant - I'm sure I remember reading it has to be ordered within 3 or 4 months either side of your cars delivery?Has anyone else got the professional sat nav with the google maps style traffic? I have paid for a 32 Amp Rolec tethered unit which after grant is costing £149. I'd have to pay that just for a cable and includes all the install (although I have already ran the cable as I had a specific route under floorboards etc).
Car arrives AM on 1st March and charge point installed that afternoon

Try leaving the heating system on but set to 16 degrees. May find you want to shut the face-level vents. I find that keeps it nice and fog-free, yet seems to maximise range - it does feel like it's fresh air coming in so I believe it's not heated at all.You can continue to precondition then as well - preconditioning will also precondition the battery, so should give better range...
And yes - I keep my coat on!
