BMW 330e ordered...
Discussion
Yes - put the last 7 of the vin into this http://bimmer.work/
If the Production date is 0001-01-01 then its not been made yet...
Just subtract a digit from the vin number to see how far away they are from your build.

Luckily public charging and a long range means I don't need to charge at home too much but it's still noticeable. I'm just a little concerned if people make buying decisions based on 70 mpg (which would equate to maybe 7ppm) when we th electricity costs factored it's nearer 10p which is 320d territory. There are other reasons why you'd want one, low BIK, better drive, greener if that matters to you, but the 'free driving round town' I think is a misnomer unless they can charge for free.
Completely agree and a perfectly valid consideration if you are someone buying one of the new wave PHEVs purely from a 'it's cheaper pence per mile versus a diesel' perspective. The biggest consideration though is the BiK; lots of people looking at these are company car drivers and the BiK is too low to ignore.
I've currently got an Audi A3 1.7 diesel (a pool car) and I'm getting about 62 mpg and taxed at £90 a month. The C350e will see my BiK drop to £30 a month and a slight improvement on mpg for my commute. Not to mention the far higher specification/trim level and 290bhp.
The all round package for the C350e and the 330e are very difficult to ignore for a CC driver.
I'm probably going to be around £150 a month better off with a much nicer car.
Just re company cars
The real savings are in BIK and not so much fuel economy (unless you have a nicely routed commute to obtain 70+mpg)
I ordered a 420d msport originally.. It was £100pm more in cost (due to no gov't grant) and the BIK would work out around £200pm based on the new 2016 tax rates and would raise by a further £20-30 annually. This 330e I've ordered has a higher list price but works out around £250pm cheaper than the 420d and thus leaves huge margin for fuel efficiency.. If it's just as good as a 320d I'm happy.. If not, I've still saved money and have a faster car

Thanks Hugo, that's a fair point. I am a company car driver and the main benefit is the BIK saving which I am guessing maybe c£75 per month over my existing 520dSE and the fact that if used wisely the majority of my weekend journeys will be free apart from the electricity costs - we also have solar panels so in the summer months I am hoping that the sun will charge the car! An additional benefit to me is that my personal contribution to have this car is reducing from £143 per month to £97 per month so more savings there! The best bit of course is the 250bhp on tap too so even allowing for petrol costs it should all add up to a favourable position in the bank account and loads of smiles! :-) :-)
Hi all,
Can anyone help me. I am picking up my car on Saturday. This is my first company car I have bought from my company, the invoice is in the company's name but they have sent me over the v5 registration doc today in the company's name, should it be that way or in my name. If it's in the company's name will that affect how I have to insure it.
It will be much appreciated any help.

Works just like a lease so they own the car but you are the authorised driver. As its a company car do they not provide maintainance and insurance with it? Typically company cars are covered by a company insurance scheme and maintenance package as its their asset and within their interest to make sure it's covered should you decide to disappear, crash etcCan anyone help me. Check with your company.. Although if you actually own the company, you can do it through any insurer really but do it in the business name with you as the primary driver
Hi dward - we're in the same position! Ordered mine on 30 Dec and just found out mine's due at the dealer week after next as it's in production this week. Thanks for the link to track the status...very excited, and impatient
Sorry, one more question...mine shows 0001 production plant so not in build yet. Which digit do you remove from the vin to check the build date? Tried taking out the last one and it failed...it's probably me

I have just had a response from OLEV.
I am sure someone with more contract knowledge can give more guidance? However, from the response below, my interpretation is that OLEV grant discount would have been applied to the price we are leasing/paying for a car. If BMW fail to get the car to us in 9 months (or before grants run out), then then OLEV will not pay the grant to BMW/Dealership, therefore the BMW/Dealer margin will be much lower. At that point can they refuse to sell the car to the customer, or ask for more cash?
End result looks like BMW are going to have to ensure that cars are delivered within 9 months of order. Also it appears yet again that the company I ordered through were telling me more porkies when they said BMW had been given dispensation to the rules.
How do you do italics??
"Thank you for your email as per guidance found on GOV.UK; ‘The amount of your grant will be automatically deducted from the price of your car or van when you buy it.’
The manufacturer/dealer must apply the grant at the time of sale and the vehicle must be delivered within 9 months of claim for the Plug-in Car grant, where all the conditions of the grant are maintained the grant is confirmed.
We have discussed your concerns with BMW and they have confirmed there is a possibility of your vehicle being delivered in 2017 which would mean your claim falls outside of the 9 month rule and as such we cannot guarantee the grant level. BMW and their dealer network are aware if this happens the grant would need to be reapplied for and will receive the support available at the time of claim.
The future of grant levels are detailed on guidance on GOV.UK: ‘The grant will be maintained at the current levels until March 2017, or until a prescribed number of each type of vehicle have been sold, whichever is sooner.’
BMW have confirmed they are trying to reduce lead times for delivery, should you require any further information on the delivery of your vehicle or grant claim please do contact BMW customer service on 0370 5050 160 or email customer.service@bmw.co.uk."

I'd see if they can restart the 9 month clock while the grant is still available and delivery is likely within 9 months. It would be a farce if you ordered a car in March and lost the grant if it was delivered in January but if you ordered the car in June this year and it was delivered March next year you'd get it.
