It sounds like you need to change the charge intensity setting in your iDrive menu from "Low" or "Reduced" to "Maximum". I believe the default setting is "Low", so you'll be charging at the slowest rate as a consequence. I think that the process is Settings --> Charging. Scroll down to the bottom of the charging page and there's an option to change this setting.

Hope this helps mate!
Thanks, I'll give this a go and see what happens. Maybe I should make an effort to read the manual smile

Hi there. I also ordered through lex and got my VIN number by this method -
The government grant letter that I had to sign came to me from Lex via the dealership - this has the BMW order number on it.
I then spoke to my local BMW dealer and gave him my order number, he then gave me some details on the production and a VIN.
I order mid January and am now at 9620 - at sea! Exciting !
My info also changed today - order status code is now '9620 At Sea'. So likely on the same ship
Status has changed to 9630 port of exit now! Close!

It's arrived - and she's a beauty!

Really pleased with it - albeit as a company vehicle it's been driven from Swindon so has in excess of 100 miles on the clock.

First impressions is that aesthetically it looks great, especially on a sunny day like to day. The Estoril blue really does shine against the 19'' 442M Bi Colour alloys.

I haven't had a chance to drive further than another parking space, however I noted it was eerily quiet on setting off. I need to have a play with he settings and drive modes, as the battery has been depleted following its delivery journey.

One thing i wanted to ask, is anyone having a BMW Wallbox installed for domestic charging? (I dont have an external socket or garage power). I've been reading up on the new "Electrical Vehicle Home Charge Scheme" from GOV and it looks like there is 75% contribution (up to £500) subsidy. I'm waiting for BMW to get back to me, however it is applicable, it may make it a worth wild.

Also, is it worth signing up to any pubic charging points providers? And if so, are there any recommendations?

Very close, I am "awaiting to be dispatched (9650)" so not long now.

Looks great, which is good as I have the same paint / wheels combo. I have added black grilles as well.

I've got the STD 18" M-sport alloys and I really like them, I don't regret not paying for bigger wheels.. Each to their own I suppose

Window tint can be done by a local company for £150!

Ahh sounds good then. BMW genius gave an estimated delivery date to dealer of week 26 (end of June) so hopefully I'll get it earlier than expected.

While I'm still waiting for my car, I got my hands on a 330e dealer demo and did a petrol engine mileage test on the car by using a 100km / 60 mile test drive.

Enjoy smile

Been reading this forum for a few days to see if anyone is having the same problem as me with the 330e!

Story so far is, received the car 1st April, and immediately loved it. Thought I'd fill up with fuel and charge every night to see how efficient it could be for my 12 mile daily commute to work. Charged every day and by 30th April, had covered 590 miles, fuel almost gone and used approx £20 of electricity to charge. So really pleased at 10p per mile. Have to say that in this time I had it on sport a fair few times and drove it with a heavy boot!!! Too good a car not to enjoy the power now and again!!

Decided I'd use the engine from 1st May, see how the economy is affected without charging the battery. Found that SAVE mode eats fuel, much more than sport mode so I stuck to sports.

6th May battery light warning on dash, stop immediately, charging issue!! Basically battery no longer charging and car needs to go to dealer. Luckily got home but not a good start for a £36k car after 5 weeks.

Car is still currently in garage and apparently needs a couple of cells replacing in the main battery which may take 5 days to arrive.

Up to this point I've got to say the car was brilliant, really impressed with the switch between fuel and electric, power and handling excellent and just been a joy to drive!

Hope this is just mine that's faulty and doesn't affect any of you out there waiting or currently driving a 330e!

p.s.courtesy car I've been given is a 320d xdrive (65plate), horrible in comparison!!!

So pleased to stumble across this thread! Congrats on new deliveries etc

I’m about to commit to a 320ed sport (with a couple of extras) but the 330e is pulling me in with the BIK rate and claimed MPG.

I’m a 40% tax payer, commuting 70 miles per day (60 of which are motorway, 10 extra urban (city)). I pay for my own fuel but claim expenses once every other week to drive ~250miles.

As a downside of city dwelling, I don’t have a drive or any means to charge the car, but I should be able to charge the car at work every day. This should, theoretically, mean half of my commute is on electric.

What are your real life experiences with MPG and running cost? I’m currenty paying around £200 per month on tax for the 320ed, so significant savings can be made on the 330e but I’m really concerned about how much I’ll be running on the 2l petrol engine.

Cheers

Did you mean Eco pro -mode (Drive settings: Eco pro, comfort, sport) or Save battery -mode (eDrive settings: Save battery, Max eDrive, Auto eDrive) ? The Eco pro mode really shouldn't do that. The Save battery mode works so, that when the battery level drops to below 50%, the car will use the petrol engine to charge the batteries back up to 50%. It is good if you are on a longer trip and are approaching a city, but otherwise I'd just keep it at Auto eDrive.

Too bad what happened to your car. Keep us posted what went wrong with it.

I've been driving my 330e for 6 weeks now, on a 20 mile commute I can get 150mpg and all my short journeys at the weekend are electric only so works great for me - but, the benefot of the electric starts to tail off the further your journey and I'm on the sweet spot at 20 miles, my colleague commutes 40 miles and can get around 100 at best, I'd imagine you would get between 60-70 at a guess for your 70 miles, that's driving in Ecopro using the Sat Nav for most efficient route.

But there's another but - The car is so nice to drive and the power so much fun that the urge to drive it the way you want to drive it takes over and in those real terms it's a 45mpg car at best.

Mpg aside though it's an amazing car and I've no doubt it's the future of motoring, going back in to a diesel now feels like going back 10 years I'm car technology.

Don't chose it for the mpg, chose it for the great tax benefits and the overall driving package which is excellent.

And look at the continued bad press Deisel is getting, we are already seeing increased parking charges for Deisel cars in some cities and it will only get worse as more of these manufacturers are exposed for emissions doctoring.

PHEV is the safer bet for the next 3 or 4 years in my opinion.

I must say though that even with all that aside, and if the 330e was a premium taxed car and much more expensive than a 330d for example I'd still chose the 330e

Certainly agree this technology is the way forward, certainly until large batteries of circa 90 kwh drop in price to the extent they are available in mainstream cars.

Update on my order. After originally placing my order on the 17th of Feb, I was given a provisional delivery by the lease co of 29th of July. Once BMW got involved, this slipped to September, then November, then December. I was starting to consider having to cancel my order as I am paying twice as much BIK on the provided hire car that's worth half as much as the 330e. New starters at my company get a hire car whilst their Co car is on order and are at the mercy of the rental co as to what car they get.

However, the business sales rep at the BMW dealer processing my order has been great. She contacted BMW who have now agreed to have my car delivered to the dealer for the 2nd week of July. Not sure how she did it, but now looking forward to following my car through the build and delivery stages and a happy summer of Leccy driving.

Great updates from those of you who have already taken delivery, thanks for sharing your experiences and vids.
