When i8's were trading at a premium a year ago, i wanted to shift my 1st one (which was not exactly my spec) to finally receive the one i had ordered from new in my exact spec.

Long story short they were trading around £110k. Dealer bid me £80k (the bd who was selling me my car brand new). Car had 700 miles. I sold it privately overnight for £100k.

Exactly, they seem to be strong on resale. Lots of people see it as a cult looking car with many buying through intrigue.

TBH they are taking a big risk with any car of that value, tying up a lot of money on a car that could take a long time to sell. It looks well in their favour but if they have it 6 months later...

I'd have thought it would be politically difficult for a main dealer to sell a second hand car at the same price as a new one or at a premium, whatever the market.
Much easier for an independent in those circumstances.

Porsche don't seem to have a problem with it at all.

Used Porsche Cayman GT4 at a 20k premium - all day long within the OPC Network... frown

I can tell you with certainty that it was pure bks at the time.

They knew exactly what they were doing, they could have shifted my car overnight since they had clients queuing outside the shop almost quite litteraly.

Pls put that back into context as it was over 1 year ago.

Now things are different.

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on the prices of these now. They seem to be steadying out slightly. Im seeing many used ones at £71-£72k ish and only a few relatively high mileage one's seem to be dropping sub £70k.

Come Oct heading into winter they're fall again. Cars like that tend to be more bouyant in early part of summer. That said, a bit like R8s, good condition ones have a floor price which maybe 65-70k

Just got this sent by a friend. Looks stunning on 22 rear's and 21 front's. Lowered suspension and AC Schnitzer rear wing.

I passed one on the M25 today. I was slightly nonplussed as I didn't like it (in white). I have admired them before - I went to look at one with a view to buying it. In white it seemed to look curiously dated and fussy at the back.

However, my kids both commented positively on the "sci-fi car" as we passed it - the only car that warranted any mention in the 90min journey. So what do I know?

Any car where the tech is evolving as rapidly as EV is going to be a worry on residual values.

Yes - this. Even Teslas are starting to stall a little now most of the early adopter generation have one. They dont discount but there are cars now appearing 25k off list and still relatively new

So a year on, where do we think these are going?

I notice that the cheapest one on the AUC site is £65k for a 14 but there are plenty of just over a year old examples at £70k.

51 cars on Autotrader. starting from £62,995.

To be honest, I'm surprised that these have held up that well.

You don't know if they're selling at that price or at all really.

Interesting that there's nearly 30 on Ebay, every single one is buy it now rather than auction.

Classified listings are buy it now.

Auctions are for something you just want rid of, unless it's a low value trade in, it's very rare for dealers to send cars to auction on eBay.

I wouldn't read too much in to it.

I drove one at Goodwood last year - on the BMW Experience.

Loved the car and I'd have one myself. But they just didn't, to me, feel like a £100k+ car - and even at £65k for a used one, I struggle with the valuation.

To me, it was a £40-£50k car - but I do appreciate that the tech. hikes the price significantly over what you'd pay for an equivalent 'old tech' ICE only car.

Fair enough.
