So wait 3 years and then prepare for major freefall in values?

Can any owners advise what sort of MPG these get at everyday motorway speeds? (80 ah hem leptons or so)
Yes it seems like it, especially if batteries are considered maintenance when it comes to warranty!

Surely there is a an argument that currently the extended warranty excludes the batteries because they are still covered by the original warranty

The real crunch will then come only if the purchased policy does not get extended to cover these once they are out of warranty which will be progressively after Autumn 2022

Currently, the extended warranty excludes the main battery as has been said, because it is covered from the factory. It is my understanding that hen the factory warranty expires, the extended warranty will be upgraded to include the main battery in the future.

That would be good news.

Although the warranty costs a grand a year, it really does offer good value for money, esp as if it covers the HV battery. I really can see mine being a long-term keeper as the combination of low annual miles, super-cheap running cost and low depreciation in a rare, now discontinued, quasi-supercar is tough to find.

Cars start at 36,750 for a 2015 woth 50k miles so its not exactly a bargain.

You can also get a car from BMW for under 42k - depends on how much you value the warranty and the approved used status

If you were looking anyway and you know the history of the car and trust the friend and that they're not looking to get shot because of a problem thats developing, then I guess its an ok buy.

Been offered £65k off a new convertible. Why the fk do they over price cars in the first place! rolleyes

Production ends on 31/3 so not sure if this is a good or bad thing for residuals anyway!

My thoughts exactly.....great car at the reduced price now parked in my garage. BMW must have taken a good loss on selling these off all to my benefit. Hopefully a nice and sunny weekend with fewer cars out and about for a good run out.
Combination of a hard to sell model in run out, and COVID-19 makes for massive reduction in price.

That might put some pressure on used prices...

Must have something to do with the RHD market as well. Japan and UK just not a fan of these? Used cars are usually quite a bit cheaper in the UK, but for the i8 it is really extreme. Cheapest honest i8 on mobile.de is €55k at the moment -- even at a "normal" exchange range that is 10k GBP more...

Given even our overly optimistic PM has back peddled from beating COVID19 in 12 weeks to life will be put on hold for 12 months, dropping £65k on any car right may not be wise??

Though on the other hand with the amount of 'extra' money all governments around the world is imagining up, at some point you would think hyperinflation is going to kick in. So we all might find ourselves paying £65k for a pint of milk!!!

So who on earth knows what state the country will be in at the end of all this!! What a difference a week can make to all our lives.

The plant is already shut so it seems unlikely they will reopen the line at some stage in the future to produce the last 200 or so cars unless for specific customer orders
