There was a post on the TMC forum wondering if the signatures were done by Elon himself.

If they are, it looks like he got a bit tired/bored by the time he got to the UK gifts and just scribbled a few 'X's on strips of paper for his minions to cut up and stick on later...

That's my children's idea of a joke. They say Elon is my man crush.

laugh

Tell them they got me!

I've just re-read what was promised by Musk and it seems these drawings are being sent out to everyone who reserved a Model 3 regardless of when and how they did it.

If you waited in line at your local dealer to reserve one, there should be an additional thank you gift coming your way sometime in the future.

Here's what he actually said:

We will send something to everyone who ordered, but an extra gift for those who stood in some crazy long lines
Now my 'crazy long line' consisted of just me, but I'm hoping I still qualify yes

Ha, yes, same. I walked into the Birmingham one, no queue. The cheeky blighter after me was asking questions such as, 'Can I sell my place in the queue should I need to?' Chancer. smile (The answer was no, it's linked to your email).

Is the 'gift' only for people who ordered pre-launch?
I ordered at 9:30 AM on launch day at my local store in a queue of one.

Supposedly everyone who's reserved one gets the drawing.

ETA Mine just arrived too. But without the kisses smile

Was going to book a test drive in a Model S as I haven't even been in a Tesla yet, but they are pretty busy launching the X it seems, so I'll have to wait a while longer.

I suppose I could buy an S while I'm waiting...biggrin

Not got around to that, the nearest dealership is ~70 miles from me though, so it's a bit of a pain.

I'm in exactly the same boat, I thought about a S whilst I wait for the 3, but figured that when the 3 is released, and I'll be wanting to sell my S, the S will be worth too little.

Realistically, I won't have the money for an S, so I'll just have to be patient for my test drive and M3.

I got the little pack in the post today. I reserved online on the first day and it's a nice touch. Any ideas on when this 'phase two' of the Model 3 reveal will take place?

Got mine too (actually two) - reserved in the Solihull 'popup shop' just before the launch.

I don't know if my mates having me on or not but he's telling me the batteries have to be changed on a tesla at 7 years at a cost of thousands. He reckons they'll only be 20% worn but the car won't work.

They're using these old batteries in some kind of massive power storage units throughout the world.

Any truth in it?

Who is that with? Is it still available as I looked on uswitch and that was the best available
Scottish Power. Their Online Fix Tarrif April 2017. June 2017 is similar.
BTW, GB Energy were offering 8p/day 4p/night via a bulk buy I saw recently.
I think you may be in a cheaper region as I pay 5.805p for the same tariff

The battery warranty is 8 years so your mate is an idiot.

But it is true that the batteries will eventually degrade to the point where they are no good in a car but could work in a house. Many car manufacturers are launching home energy storage systems, while Tesla will probably use new batteries for their Powerwalls (since they own a battery factory) other manufacturers are planning to 'repurpose' old car packs:

The individual cells will fail, but they can be replaced. Older Prius traction batteries can be refurbed for about £400 from what I remember. Once battery packs start to degrade (on older cheaper cars) the will be a market for cheap refubs.

I think its only the early generation of Prius Batteries that can't be split by blade or cell. Even then there is a market for non OEM packs.

I think my main problem with the model 3 is that it is looking seriously fugly! Without the need for the bonnet height to engine block they could have done something really elegant... But to me, is just looks tacky sadly.

The Model S is the best of the lot as I agree with many others that the X is even worse...

The i3 and i8 are lightyears ahead by comparision IMHO.

Its way better than most modern cars. Most have some weird double hump thing going on on the bonet to hide the fact the front is seriously lardy. The model 3 has a relatively low bonnet/frunk.
