So who is getting a Model 3?

Depends on the model - the number is meant to be the battery size, so a 90 in theory is a 90 kwh battery (its not for technical reasons that piss a lot of people off, and then there is a bit of loss) but if you wanted to fill the car from a more realistic 10% to 90% then thats around 80kwh and for me £8 - and I'd get about 200 miles in summer from that.
Charging isn't 100% efficient. You'll loose some energy (10-15%?) as heat when you charge, so that will add a small amount to the cost.Welshbeef said:

Elon Musk has said that the supercharger wont be free for Model 3 owners unless they buy an upgrade package - Ive seen figures of 2k, dont know if thats £ or $.

How much years average usage does £/$2k get and is it transferable to 2nd+ owners?https://chargedevs.com/newswire/elon-musk-supercha...

The losses are not as high as you mention, more like 3-to-5% but less than you quote plus when you go down hill or in Regen it`s like putting gas back in your tank (which can`t do in an ICE ) just about all current EV`s now have Regen, saves on brake pads as well as energy costs & charge time.

If you look at the source London website most of the chargers which are not in car parks are out of service.
Source London, in a tweet, promised to fix them "by the summer": Last summer.

And that's the crux of it. So you roll up in need of a charge and it's kaput with all other working ones full what do you do?Source London, in a tweet, promised to fix them "by the summer": Last summer.

Who pays for the servicing of those points (I hope not ICE drivers)
Or, a bit more in line with ethos of the whole thing and potentially able to charge faster, want to hire my van with several battery packs in the back and a high-current connector for a few hours?

I've done my simple man maths and it seems to me that Economy 7 is the way to go?
5.1p/kwh means an equivalent (compared with a diesel car) of 300mpg? Based on £5/gallon which is what I'm paying.
Am I going wrong somewhere?
Your daytime electricity consumption will cost approx 50% more than now.5.1p/kwh means an equivalent (compared with a diesel car) of 300mpg? Based on £5/gallon which is what I'm paying.

I managed to get my reservation number from the hidden code in the MyTesla page before Tesla removed the data. My number is 507xxx and I reserved lunchtime on the 1 April.
Did anyone else manage to get their number?
658xxx - made on the 5th I think. Did anyone else manage to get their number?
So, let's say 2% of orders are UK bound, then you're 3000 ahead of me. If they're at 500K units/year , then that's < 3 days production :-) Not so bad.

Received a strange piece of mail today - a big envelope with a picture of a Tesla 3, and a thank you note from Musk. Anyone else? Slightly curious as to why.
This is a thankyou gift which was sent to everyone who went to their Tesla store and reserved one there rather than going on line the next day. Mine hasn't arrived yet, but I'm hopeful now you've got yours!I'd recommend registering on the Tesla Motors Club forum as you'll pick up a load of useful information while you're waiting...
