On a home 7KW charger around 4-5 hours depending on how much battery is actually left.

On the 13amp 3-pin plug I would imagine around 10-12 hours

On a DC fast charge .... dunno, never charged outside of the home. smile
Cool thanks for that

Had a first test drive today, quite impressed.

However, business lease for spec I'm after is c. £300 month ex vat over 3 years (limited company is flat rate vat).
Now with shameful government tax on EV, not looking quite so good......

If your a private buyer, then lots of ex BMW demo fleet i3's have just dropped (or are about too drop) into the Authorised Used Network, and the prices look pretty keen to me. Of course, they have the small battery, but if you can live with the 80odd mile range they are very good value! I've just snapped up a 9month old BEV, with just 550miles on the clock, for pretty much £16k.......

Which is why, having gone into the dealer for a pair of brake discs for my 335, i came out with a pair of brake discs for my 335 and an i3....... ;-)

Which dealer was it?

I've had the i3 two weeks now and done over 500 miles in it (that's about triple I'd normally do). Absolutely love it. Probably one of the best cars I've owned.

Curious as to colour and spec? Was £16K their asking price or were they willing to negotiate?

Dealer is Wollastons in Northampton. Spec tbh, i'n not really sure, as i haven't actually even seen the car, we just looked at the build record for it on BMW portal, so it's a grey BEV, has the flat sytle wheels (not the nicer bladed ones) has a Lodge interior, and doesn't have the PRONAV.

tbh, i wasn't worried about spec, as its a going to be my dual motor / supercap boosted project mule;-)

Is it worth enquiring about an old i3 when we're weeks away from 200 mile batteries (Renault Zoe etc)?

Well that depends if doing 200miles in one go is useful to you! I just take my 335d for those sorts of journeys........

The good news is that this:

Shows the Electric Motor Controller ISN'T on the Flexray bus, but on a normal CAN bus, which means it's a lot easier to modify, and makes this:

One motor for each rear wheel, much easier to do.........

Hi guys

We've been and test driven an i3 today and it was hugely impressive

However the finance deals were eye wateringly crap, even putting down £10k on a well spec'd REX we are looking at £300-£350 a month over 3 years (car was £37k when taking into account the 4.5k from gov)

So I looked at used ones and there are a few that fit the bill at circa £20k but being early-mid 2016 cars I assume these are not the new 94 versions?

Would a non 94ah car be a bad buy right now? (Most of the wife's miles are shirt but she may need to do longer stints of over 80 in a day so rex required)

I did 109 miles in my non Rex 94 i3 yesterday and it was showing 13 miles range still. No need for Rex for 80 mile days imo

I have owned a 60 BEV and now have a 94REx.

80 mile trips in the winter not possible in a 60BEV without charging.

Early 2016 cars (before July) will be 60s.

So you would need a 60REx or any 94.

Have you looked at leasing instead? I did a quick search:

https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/car-leasing...

£300 inc VAT on a 6+23.

Adding options will always be bad value.
