I have received a quote from a company called Profess Autogas in Hengoed in South Wales to convert my V12 6.0 Jag using the AC-STAG LPG system and was looking for feedback on both the system and the installer if anyone has used either.

Apparently using the AC-STAG system means that maintenance can be done remotely in terms of diagnostics which reduces the need to go and have it physically serviced at the 1 year 10k mark if the system if the diagnostics come back right. They can also fine tune the system in this way too should things start to slip.

The conversion cost they have quoted is £1800 plus vat and it takes 3 days and is supplied with a lifetime warranty.

Opinions on the system and supplier wanted and suggestions of better systems and suppliers if available for v12 engines would be good. I don't want to get into a debate here whether LPG is a good idea or not. I am, at this point, just considering it.

Thanks

I had a profess stag system which was already installed on a Golf V6 4motion I purchased a few years back, sounded like a diesel, the injectors weren't up to the job unfortunately.
They kept cutting out when upto a decent speed.
I now have a Golf R32 fitted with Prins system from Hilton Autogass runs perfectly as the keihins injectors will take 50bhp each.
Cost more than the stag system but well worth it.
Do Profess still fit in one day?

Have a look at this forum to get more info.

They are quoting 3 days to fit
I am not sure Prins do a system that fits a v12
Thanks for the info
Have checked out the forum and dropped a message to Yorkshire Autogas that seem to know their stuff

It was concerns about the cheap injectors that decided me on Prins and decent Keihin injectors for the Jeep (5.7 hemi). It might be measurable on a dyno, but I can't feel any drop in power when switching to/from gas when pressing on. Had the system in 5 years now.

A 12 cylinder with Keihins is going to be pricey!

Ive had another quote from somewhere else that goes into far more detail and is talking about a dual ECU setup running twin KME Nevo ECU's with Romano HD reducer and Hana injectors. Price comes out exactly the same.

Beware of 'life time warranty'
Most consumers think it meaas lasts forever and free replacements if it goes wrong.
If its sold on they expect the warranty to go with it

As far as stuff for sale with a life time warranty it means it'll last as long as something of that type would typically last in the conditions youre using it.
i.e. once its worn out its reached its end of life

Youre much better off with a guarantee for X years saying what will be replaced

Oh yeah I would agree with that totally. Such bluff would not be a deal decider for me.

Hi Craig. I am about to buy a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso and was impressed by the Profess AC Stag quote until i read your thread. Please can you let me know who you got the better quote from, and if you went ahead and had the conversion done.

I haven’t had it done for various reasons. The car isn’t finished restoration wise yet and as part of that restoration it’s had its gearbox and engine management upgraded which gives just over 20mpg on a run and I’m fine with that. Was struggling to locate where to put a filler that wouldn’t look awful or require drilling through areas that could corrode if not sealed well.

The other more in depth quote I got was from Simon at Yorkshire auto gas who appears to really know his stuff and was much more willing to discuss things. Hope that helps
