Imagine the future - when Cobham services remove all the fuel pumps and instal electric charging points.

It might be sooner than you think...
I'd be completely happy for that to happen.
I have no intention of buying an IC vehicle with such poor range that I need to use motorway services for fuel.

It would be something I might have to compromise on when I go electric.

Seems quite likely motorway services could be among the first filling stations to reduce their number of pumps?
Or maybe most of their trade is fuel cards and only a few tourist victims ever pay their prices?

It's going to be a challenge, isn't that the biggest fuel station in the UK?

30 odd pumps with 2500 people using the petrol station every day eek

Even if we cut the amount of cars that need to charge in half that would still be 1250 EV's a day charging taking between 30-60 mins each, how many chargers would be need and how much power?

Your question is flawed - most EV owners charge up at home most of the time. You therefore do not need to replace fuel stations on anything like a 1:1 ratio.

Which is why I said 1250 instead of the 2500 current users rofl

The same argument saying EV users will charge at home can be applied to service stations with ICE though, as no one fills up at a service station out of choice, do they? You fill up for a long trip before you get to the motorway then top up if needed as it's much cheaper.

Oddly the only time this year I've used a motorway service station was to charge the car (Rugby) but it was a trip which could have been done without needing a fuel stop in my last ICE.
