I was just in North Wales letting it rip, but thankfully not in an EV. There are loads of EVs around, though, so they must be getting electricity somehow.

bingo, or lobbing a 3 pin charger out of a window of their rental property. bet there's been a few vrbo/ airbnb owners looking at their leccy bills with a bit of a frown.
My mum has a rental in Snowdonia, they charge £30 if you want to charge a car, or something like that.I’ve paid good money for charging when staying in hotels in the sticks, usually at public charger rates so much of a muchness. It’s the price of convenience and generally best to have a full tank in the morning. It sounds like hospitality in Wales can make a decent shilling on the lack of alternatives.
Great weekend in Anglesey - weather was great so we decided to go in the Z4 in the end.
I did look for chargers whilst there and travelled around most of the island in the 3 days - Have to say I dont think we would have done what we did in the EV - limited fast working chargers and couldnt charge where we stayed. We would of had to plan carefully what we did, where we could eat, how long we could stay etc. On this occasion EV would not have worked for us - but touting around the island in the Z4 was quite pleasent and on a plus side petrol on the island was cheaper than elsewhere - cheapest E5 at £1.54 up to £1.59 so probably comparative I guess.

The 50kWh one at Morrisons Caernarfon was broken the other day so had to drive like a granny back to Cardiff in my coat. There was just NOTHING for the route South.
I have a 15m extension cable that will go through a letterbox and also installed a commando 32a socket at my parents house. Otherwise you may be screwed in the Gogs as we call it!

My weekend bolt hole is in Anglesey and i live south of Brum. I couldn't have an EV yet.
Anglesey is 140 miles from South Brum, any number of EV's that would easily do that trip and most of the way back if required. Our old i3 with a tiny battery would have got you there without issue even in colder weather allowing you to charge on arrival (assuming you can)SWoll said:

The missus just took her new ID5 to her mums with my letterbox granny charging extension lead. It will be plugged in from midday today to midday tomorr. She will get about 57kWh in it and the battery is 70kWh. That completely works - basically will be at 100% when leaving. Its not as easy as petrol granted and you do have to think/plan but it may not be as bad as you think as we all sleep and just 10 hours gives 24kWh on a granny which is about 70 miles in that or 50 in my Taycan.
