I got a car for €30 for 4 days in Malta recently! They tyres were sun cracked and we got a flat on day two.. which took an hour to sort. Still, what did I expect for less than a tenner a day..
That's decent. Malta is an ideal place for a rent-a-banger company. Would you mind posting the name of the company you hired from please? I'd like to put it in my list of possibles for my next trip.
https://www.abbycar.com/malta/luqa - they even picked us up and dropped us back at the airport for that ££ biggrin

Yes, always rent a stter in Malta. I LOVE the place for work and leisure, but for whatever reason they simply can't drive over there, everyone seems to have their own ideas about right of way. The roundabouts generally work on the 'French system', whereby cars already on the roundabout give way to those looking to join. Except when it doesn't work like that.

If you hear a car near you beep its horn it's because it's about to do something, could be anything really... Or that you've pissed them off somehow.

The roads are generally good but if you get a sprinkling of rain after a few hot days, they become like ICE.

You've probably driven there before and know all the above! Have a great trip thumbup
When I went 20 years ago we had a Hyundai Accent with no power steering or air con. Luckily they gave us a newer version 2 days later with leather seats and Air con. Ideal for the summer heatwave !

Yes, but you would need to know the deposit required and mileage limits to know if either of these were any use to the individual surely
“The same profile” as in 1+23, so that answers the deposit question at least.
Different mileage allowance?

Assuming they are reasonably hassle free to own, then they seem like a bargain. Sadly Mrs S has her heart set on a Fiat/Abarth Electric, otherwise this world be a no brainer.

That’s expensive - I’ve seen £167 on the same profile!
Good Lord. I might be interested in that. Which company is offering those deals, please?

The £167 a month was with 21st Century Leasing

Useful post that one, £190/£190 is cheap for a brand new EV, regardless of whether you'd drive one or not rolleyes

I think GWM's site might have a similar/better deal...

When it comes to the car itself, my OH sat in one at the local Gridserve and loves the way it looks and feels (no comments about me being aesthetically challenged thank you). I suspect the car appeals to that demographic (she also loves Beetles and Minis).

I thought it felt much better quality than I expected.

We're not really in the market for a small runaround, but if we were I think it would be a contender.

GWM are doing some simple and effective PCP, PCH and BCH on their website. The PCP sets a 2 yr GFV of £17400. It’s good that’s guaranteed as you can pick up a ‘23 plate for £19995 already!

I read this morning that the Ora Funky Cat, from Great Wall Motors, goes on sale today.

It's £32,000, has a 193 mile range, and appears to have three Lookers outlets in the West Midlands as it's dealer network.

It comes in 4 primary school crayon colours, and looks like a very odd mash-up of a K12 Micra and a Leaf.

I'm genuinely thinking, and this is rare I think, for a car launch, that there is no-one for whom this car would make any sense whatsoever.

Would anyone buy it?
All things considered.............no.

I happened to spot that I think. We business leased a Leaf then a Soul and the company has now bought a Honda E which we thought was a good deal… except it’s been quietly losing a grand a month since purchase in summer ‘22. The Ora would be a far better option financially. It’s cheaper than Ubers.
With this and the £99 Maxus pickup deals I think this is the start of the Chinese price gouging that’ll eventually kill off the western manufacturers.

You might well be correct. The others, including Tesla, just can't compete at these price points. Lest we forget these are the prices that the average buyer in the UK can afford, not £400pcm for a Model Y. A Focus, Astra and the like used to be a PCP of circa £200 a month. If China offer such rates they will clean up.
