With a top speed limited to 112mph the dual motor version must have a claim on being the quickest accelerating car from 0 to Vmax. Any idea how long that would take it?

I really like it, but even after watching a few YouTube videos, I’m still struggling to get my head around how big, or indeed small it is. It’s looking like a strong candidate to replace my Polestar 2 in a few years though.

Hoping some size comparisons are done with the like of the XC40 etc as it’s difficult to establish the size.

Although judging by the rear seats, there’s little leg room.

I’ve seen some videos of it where it comes across as small for sure. Without looking up measurements it seems to me to be like a Renault Megane E-whatever.

Think of it as a Golf-sized car with a bit of ground clearance, and you won't go far wrong. Total boot capacity is very similar. It's about 20cm shorter than the XC40.

The tall Swedish(?) chap who did the video where he sat in the back has made me think twice about getting one to replace our XC40. We're not going to be carrying lots of tall people regularly, but it looks like more of a squeeze than I'm comfortable with.

Suspect a Niro EV would be a better tool for the job if you're in need of rear space.

Its pretty close in size (nose to tail) to the VW ID3. I've one of those and interior space is about the same size as a Passat, apparently. However, this Volvo will need to have space for 2 motors (and possibly larger motors due to the higher HP?) so again, its hard to understand the cabin space and boot space and how its packaged overall. The ID3 has a fairly short nose for example.

This car is to sit below the the XC40 and the C40 Recharge offerings. I think when all is said and done, its in the 'compact' category perhaps?

It looks like they've made the wheelbase as long as is physically possible, so maybe interior wise, it might be a bit better than 'compact'. Dunno.

It's almost identical in dimensions to a BMW i3s, so that should give you a familiar reference.

I like it but I think I want more boot space these days. I currently have a Golf and it has less boot space than that which made me start looking at the XC40 instead. I also want the ability to fit a roof box.

Not sure where you got that from.

The i3 is 4x1.75m, and the EX30 is 4.25x1.85m.

In old money, the EX30 is 10" longer and 4" wider.

If you've got a Golf 7 or 8, the total boot/storage space is almost identical (350-360 vs 380). The XC40 is a fair chunk bigger, at 450L.

Where have you got the "350-360" from? Volvo state 318L, and that includes 61L under the load floor. That's considerably smaller than any recent Golf.

Interesting! I read an article that suggested it was 318L PLUS the space under the boot floor (and whatever you can squeeze in the frunk). Suspect someone misread the press release in that case.

So it's about 16% smaller than the Golf. Not all that significant a difference, but potentially a deal-breaker for a small family runabout.

The killer fault for me is the rear legroom (or lack of.)

So sad, everything else is great and I'm a former Volvo owner myself having owned a XV40 a few years back so would go back to the brand.

Even a Polo has much better rear seat legroom.

I don't think this is a car designed for 4x adults. If that's what you want, you'd be better off with an XC/C40.

Is it worse than in a V40 or V60? Or an i4 for that matter? I can’t say I studied it in the videos but looked ok to me. Not vast amounts of space obviously but nothing that size has acre of space inside.

The interior turns me off. I hate that Tesla minimalism. I get that Tesla does it to simplify the things they aren’t any good at but Volvo (Geely)?

It’s be nice if it drives well but I’m guessing typical Volvo. We shall see I guess.

Much worse, I used to own a V40 Cross Country and there was loads of space in the back (apart from width in the middle seat as the other two are offset towards the middle with bins on the edge of the rear seats.)

I watched the review thinking it would be a great car... right up until they opened the rear door and I could see the front seat back being so close to the edge of the rear bench.

It's frustrating, I expect they will sell loads of EX30 to people that don't use the rear seats but miss out on large numbers of other sales

Perhaps it is deliberate to force you to buy an XC40 if you need just a bit more rear legroom?

VW are bringing out a polo sized car the id2 but with the interior space of a golf due to good packaging.

It will also undercut Volvo by maybe £5k-£10k as the base battery will be a bit smaller.
