I saw this parked outside Volvo in Lye. Popped in and they have 3, black ( looked smart), yellow and pearl white with black roof in the showroom. First impressions it looked very small next to my MG4. Quality inside seemed very good. It also pulled off the EV trick of feeling bigger inside than it looks outside. The lack of buttons and the minimalist interior make it feel bigger. The materials were nice to the touch and looked like they would wear well.

The salesman said no test drives allowed till 01/03/24. It seemed about the size of a Vauxhall Mireva but with huge wheels. I actually prefer the looks and interior of the ZEEKR pictured above but then I’m strange.

popped to my local (rural in Southam) tesco the other day (sun morn) and saw a white one messing around in the carpark. i waited for them to park then i was going to pop over and stick my nose in. passenger was busy eyeing my C40 at the time so i assumed it would be OK.

Anyway they didn't park, just played around for 2 mins then i drove off. Coming out onto the main road i noticed another...weird. 100m later just after a roundabout another, then by the next roundabout another. No dealership near us (nearest is 10 miles) and never seen once since. All were 23 plates.

very weird but it looked nice and will probably be our next car when the C40 goes back in 2 years (fingers crossed the midlife facelift has some buttons inside smile

Yeah, I'm booked in for the 14th Feb. Not sure how the missus will feel about me coming home from work late on valentines day!

It's also a bonus the footprint isn't to big.

yeah that would make sense as there are some fast country A roads around here to test the ride etc. I will wait for the press photos and see if i can spot the hedges......should join the Dull Mens Club

We've heard nothing from our dealer despite having a car due March and very much of the 'we need to drive it before we take delivery' - even emailed them last week to get an update and they said no news re when they'll get a car but ours still on track for mid-March, will have to give them a call

Also at point of order we signed up for a PCP, but now the PCP is offering a £700 deposit contribution and our usage 'profile' has changed - so hoping we can re juggle that if we do go ahead

The leasing company sorting my company car has said my Onyx Twin Ultra (Ordered July 23) is on a ship and should be at dealership in the next 7 days.

Now, I fully expect this is to keep us on the hook and my current company car goes back in 2 weeks and the Tesla Model Y is now well within budget.

But the timings here seem extremely optimistic?

Saw my first one on the road today in Grey and it looked really smart.

Think I will take my wife to have a look as if I can get her out of her Cooper S and in a bigger car I can bin my EV off for a toy.

An EV called "Lynk & Co" based on this platform and broadly the same vehicle will be launched in the UK soon.

I drove a rented Lynk & Co PHEV small SUV in Italy this year. I'll give you a one word review: Flimsy.
Just had one as a rental. After 3 days parked up, the battery was flat and it wouldnt go.
Presuming that would be the 12v battery being flat rather than the traction battery. When I had one the traction battery was flat the whole time, apart from when I managed to get some regen electrons into it. But it always started and went. I did get a low coolant warning once, so I stopped and looked in the expansion tank, sure enough it was a bit low. So I topped up with water and continued. Bit surprised to have a coolant level problem on a fairly new car, even though it was a rental one. Didn't inspire confidence in me.
12v batteries can be a problem for many EVs. The irony is large!
I assume terrible battery management algorithms: they should be recharged by the BigBattery™ when needed!

That has been the bane of many Kona owners. Ours went after over 3 years, but by then we were carrying a small USB jump starter pack which works just fine. Replaced the 12v one with a 5yr guaranteed ones no probs since.
Yeah I've heard someone with a KIA Soul having 12v battery disasters. Never been an issue with my two 1st Gen Nissan Leafses, my current (groan) 30kwh one has a solar panel for trickle charging the 12v.
I've seen many reported 12v issues over the years with Teslas, Leafs, Niros, Konas and even with Prius and other hybrids. Our Prius 12v was past its best at 3yrs and was replaced by an Optima spiral wound AGM. Still perfect 9yrs later when sold on.

Charging algorithms were part of the problem, however unlike pure ice vehicles, simply opening a door on the Prius would boot up 24+ ECUs and prime the electric brake pressure accumulator in preparation for driving. Leaving doors and tailgate open for any length of time would cause a significant drain. It had no ability to charge the 12v from the traction battery until after the car was started so if short trips were the norm the 12v was always sitting at a low state of charge.

Having seen the issue also occurring in full EVs I connected a 12v monitor to our Kona as soon as I picked it up. I now wonder if the constant charging from the high voltage pack while parked might prove detrimental in the long run, either to the 12v or the contactors that engage the high voltage pack.

Examples below, if driven, when idle afterwards, and after sat for a few days. The peaks are 14.8v.

Unless you really need the space these are a lot nicer than a Model Y imo.

I have an 330e at the minute, and id say the back seats have been sat in twice!

Ill probably still stick with the EX30.

Well we’ve cancelled ours frown

Had a really good look around the static one in the dealers - lots of great things going for it - decent compact size, pretty spacious interior, styling etc but ultimately it having the speed on the centre screen that didn’t for us

In principle we weren’t anti it but Mrs T wears varifocal glasses (I’m heading that way) and it wasn’t just a glance across to see the speed readout but a whole turn of the head and refocus.

We have a similar issue with cars that have screens for rear view mirrors, have to move the head a lot more and refocus

So off to see what else floats our boat…

Do they have a HUD? - would avoid the refocusing.

As I think I’ve said previously in this thread, my wife has had a car with a central speedo reading for around 10 years. Definitely not my choice and I felt the same as you. However, once your subconscious brain learns the new position it’s not an issue at all. I wear varifocal glasses which I got around 5 years ago, and again once the movement becomes subconscious all is fine.

I went and had a look at one at the weekend, it was a nice piece of kit in the flesh and the interior quality felt great to me given the price point and the fact it is an EV.

Going to have a test drive as may try and convince my wife into one so I can give up my own EV as her Cooper S just isn't big enough currently to have as the sensible car.

Test drove a twin motor yesterday, couple of observations:

Holly bleep it's quick. Too quick.

Speedo in the centre, I expected to hate it, but for some reason it worked.

Too many bongs, bong you are too fast, bong you aren't looking at the road. Of course I am not looking at the road, I am too busy navigating through the damntouch screen to adjust the temperature.

Anyway we will be ordering. Single motor ultra for us.

Out of interest is it an analogue or digital speedo - generally find analogue much easier to reference wherever it is placed as get used to where the needle is rather than having to actually read the digits - also we’ve driven cars with the large digits mounted centrally but on top of the dash ok - it may be a combination of position, font and it being digital that defeated us…
