As I think I’ve said previously in this thread, my wife has had a car with a central speedo reading for around 10 years. Definitely not my choice and I felt the same as you. However, once your subconscious brain learns the new position it’s not an issue at all. I wear varifocal glasses which I got around 5 years ago, and again once the movement becomes subconscious all is fine.
Out of interest is it an analogue or digital speedo - generally find analogue much easier to reference wherever it is placed as get used to where the needle is rather than having to actually read the digits - also we’ve driven cars with the large digits mounted centrally but on top of the dash ok - it may be a combination of position, font and it being digital that defeated us…Trikster said:

Im sure that given a short period of time there will be OBD displays that can be mounted on top of the eye tracker to show speed. Similar tot the Tesla options on Alibaba etc.
never knew that was a thing. what a great piece of kit and takes away my one big worry with the EX30, thanksFor all those worried about the heads up display / central speedo.
From the get go, you could get one of these, which also doubles as a speed camera detector, and mount on top of the eye tracker behind the steering wheel?

Hopefully they get some negative, constructive feedback so by the time I'm collecting in 2 years it will be much better ?

Over reactions from relatively brief tests done by motoring journos. On my BMW, I have to control all my climate, driver assistance, other settings by touchscreen or voice as they have removed virtually all buttons, apart from hazards, rear window demist etc. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/volvo-...
I initially found it difficult to adjust to this new style of car interior, but brain eventually did got used to it and now I don't miss buttons and have gotten used to this new way of interacting with the car.
I had a test drive the other day. The big screen and lack of physical controls worked far better than I had expected.
It was very satisfying to drive, for me the right balance of steering, power, smoothness and power. Did I say power? The size is right too, don't need a vast boot.
I can't get past the incredibly poor finance Volvo are offering, but if that changes for the better then I'd have one. Personal leases are completely uncompetitive compared to rivals, I assume that's simply the way the market works at the moment.

With a noisy engine and minimal soundproofing, a manual gearbox, and relatively low top speed, it's pretty easy to know how fast you are going without looking at the speedo.Much harder to "feel" speed in a quiet, insulated, electric car.
Just ordered my Twin Motor Ultra, which will be arriving in September apparently. After 3 years in a Tesla I’ve got no concerns about where the speedo is or how to move the mirrors.
I’m also rather looking forward to having more power than the chassis and brakes can cope with. In the olden days we used to regard that as fun. It only seems to be since the advent of EVs that people (helmsmen?) have got all poe faced about cars being too fast for the general public. Funny that.

I’ve now had a SMER Ultra for a week. I’ve found I’ve got used to the layout very quickly and it’s not caused me any issues. It’s been made much more usable because the Google provided voice control system works brilliantly so there is little need to use the touchscreen controls while in motion
