The celeb is adamant that he was pressing hard on a solid brake pedal so I can't imagine what was actually occurring there. Had he pressed the accelerator the car would have shot forward. Press both and the car still stops. Very odd.
I just think sometimes people have no clue how hard you have to push a brake pedal if there's air trapped in the lines or if there's a problem with a pad or caliper on one side - especially in a very heavy car.

I can imagine for the less mechanically minded it's easy for fear to overwhelm useful thinking...

It's worth remembering that in certain situations, especially following (poor) maintenance, a brake pedal can travel and have insufficient effect, it then won't achieve anything more until you pump it a few times and then stand on it again.

If you just press it once and then soil yourself as nothing happens then... That might be natural selection sticking it's nose into proceedings...

I have had, in shades of brown trouser order, one hydraulic failure, one vacuum assist failure and one regen failure (Prius). All three resulted in brick hard and dead feeling brake pedals, but brought the cars to a fairly quick, if uncomfortable stop.

I agree that it would be easy to panic when the car doesn't slow as you'd expect however the description above has a ring of truth to it - but - I've had colleagues convinced their clutch has gone or that their brakes don't work. The first was on packed snow and the second was on sheet ice...

I knew it!! And this is apparently the second such occasion he's suffered this 'fault' rofl

Mentalist or goon seeking a convoluted way of getting an insurance pay out!!?!?

Who cares. Well done JLR for getting to the bottom of this so quickly and bouncing this prat and his car straight back to the attention of the police whose time he wasted. Muppet.

Dangerous driving and time wasting are more than enough for the arrest. That could be added to very soon if he started an insurance claim....

If I were the Police I'd be claiming on his insurance for the damage to their cars too, for sts and giggles.

As I posted on the other topic specific thread. This clown probably got flashed on the motorway and has 6/9 points already.

Quite possibly.

Now he's getting done for wasting police time, dangerous driving, probably insurance fraud assuming he instigated a claim and... will get his extra points for speeding too.

You plonker Rodney!

Another twit who likely has never braked a car enough to feel ABS pulsating the pedal or understand it. He likely hit a patch of something slippy and the car did it’s job.

In other news my iPace finally went into the dealer on Monday to have a battery cell changed. This is the issue that was first diagnosed in October last year. Was told that it would take 4 to 5 days to do.

Get a call this afternoon to say that during the removal of the battery pack, somehow the pack has dropped out shearing off two bolts as it went. Despite their efforts to free it, apparently they can’t now get the pack out and so have had to order a new frame into which the battery fits. This is a back order part and will take 1 to 2 months to be received. On top of that the dealer recently bought a second specialised EV ramp/lift to increase the speed in which they can fix these battery issues. Unfortunately as mine is stuck on one of them, it has put it out of use, now halving the workshop’s capacity to get the battery fixes done so after speaking to me the bloke then had to call up who knows how many iPace owners to say their fixes will now be delayed, you couldn’t make it up!

On the plus side they’ve given us a new ‘hairdresser spec’ white Evoque to use whilst we await the repair. All fuel used (it’s a petrol) will also be paid for by JLR. The wife quite likes it.

Wow that's a shocking sequence of events. And tbh it sounds like the battery packaging and access leaves a lot to be desired too...

These issues getting cars sorted are really stacking up now. I know it's just the transition period and soon it'll all be sorted but for now it's a nightmare.

Glad they are least sorted you out a zero cost car/fuel.

Yeah JLR warranty runs out in October this year, it will be sold before then. Love the car but wouldn’t risk having one without a warranty, shame really as I will miss it.

You can get really decent aftermarket warranties but... I sense you've had enough at this stage and don't blame you tbh. Honeymoon period over, time for the divorce.

I really hope JLR's next SUV EV builds upon what is great about the iPace, including fixing a few foibles such as battery access and leaky windscreens..

The car has been ‘faulty’ for 6 of the 12 month warranty I currently have, unfortunately I’ve completely lost faith in JLR products.

Got sorted in the end, bought Firenze red June 2023 registered HSE Black with 6k miles for £46.5K, a dealer demonstrator. (MY24)

Big difference between what deals some dealers would do it the end.

No doubt it will depreciate like a stone but we will have it for at least 4-5 years, wanted to get the newest one we could at sensible money.

Haven’t got it yet, but have an OHM charger on the way to fit to the house.

Ouch, don’t blame you for dumping JLR.
