What a load of balls. EVs are boring and only faster when compared to their average ICE competition. They don’t define high performance at all. Line one up against a top fuel dragster and see how well it does. For a few grand I could bolt a turbo to my ZZR 1400 motorbike and with say 300hp on pump fuel, your performance Tesla wouldn’t stand a chance. It’s just EV owners drinking their own coolaid because they’ve never owned anything quick before.
The difference in talent required to drive a top fuel drag racer and a 300hp sports bike versus an electric car should be obvious to most ordinary people. I doubt you personally would achieve better performance with either.

It was pretty horrible tbh and would spin the tyres at over 100mph. 6.6L supercharged stroker V8 LS truck engine. Shorter stroke now which helps with traction but it’ll still spin the tyres all the way to 70mph if you poke it. PD superchargers give boost off idle as you can see. And I get a savage V8 soundtrack to go with it.
Sounds fun, the most impressive acceleration thing i drove was a 9 litre CanAm car, that was a BBC race engine with 850/850 and weighed 850Kg. Thankfully it was on 16" wide slicks and had proper aero. That sort of car makes road cars feel pathetic. biggrin it was geared for 220 mph at Spa and pulled it.

I would expect a current F1 car on full hybrid deploy would feel pretty decent, it's the acceleration above 100 mph which blows you away with those sorts of power/weight.

All these things are pathetic compared to a top fuel dragster, but those are more like missiles than cars. biggrin

It's nice to see some hope with having fun in an EV in future, if only they could get the weight down.

You know nothing about me so I’d thank you not to judge me by your own low bar.

Except the ones that own both an EV and something decently fast with an ICE (did I mention 550 bhp/ton?) and so can make their own minds up about just how fast EVs are?

Willy waving aside, any car’s speed will be limited by traction. And most EVs weigh more than Elvis as he fell off his toilet. Showing Doris how fast your four wheeled fridge is on the way to Morrisons is neither big nor clever and nobody cares anyway. And no you didn’t mention 550 bhp/tonne (we use metric these days) why not tell us about it? I’m sure it’s fascinating.

Well you did say

“It’s just EV owners drinking their own coolaid because they’ve never owned anything quick before.”

Just pointing out that’s not always the case.

I really like my ICE vehicles, but I love my EV, it’s brilliant and clearly represents the future of performance motoring!

You are a card! You make massive assumptions, generalisations and rude comments about EVs and their owners in every thread you can.

It must be exhausting having an irrational fear of electric powered cars. At your age, you really should think about your blood pressure. Perhaps some exercise away from your computer too?

And the irony is my favourite car is my old 4.0 Range Rover, which is glacially slow and drinks like Oliver Reed and Richard Burton on a night out.

Low bar? laugh I'm not sure if that's an insult to drag racers, which I assume you count yourself amongst laugh

What a bizarre thread

ICE and EV here

I believe we are talking about standard cars you can buy- but then folks weigh in saying ‘nah. ICEbis totally holding it against EV’ ….. to reveal high custom special cars and looks modded bikes as equivalent

If a Tesla X P - a 5 / 7 seat family wagon as a totally stock car can hump anything unless hand built and tune to bejesus, I think the actual OP and question is answered.

Just the usual suspects talking rubbish about EVs on every thread.

It's a bit sad really. I feel sorry for them.

Don’t be so hard on yourself. Btw. Age, which you seem obsessed by, is a protected characteristic. Keep being ageist and you’ll be reported to the mods.

Lol, ironically proving exactly how fast family EV’s are when you need to break out your truck engined 800bhp car as a comparison, that probably cost as much as the average house to put together.

I thought the thread was generally informative and entertaining. Some people are far too defensive and sensitive.

The straight line performance of some of these EV's is undoubtedly impressive, however I would imagine after a while the novelty would wear off.

On the note of outrageous accelerating things, check out Andy Forrest 4WD Twin-Turbo LS powered Westfield. Well over 1000bhp, road legal and even quicker on track than it was in a straight line.
