Wife has an Ariya incoming and it looks to be about £50/year more than her outgoing Qashqai, so pretty reasonable given the increase in value (list price anyway!) and performance.

Our insurance has gone up considerably compared to last year though. About £5-600 combined is now a grand.

Looking at moving from ICE to EV.

Trying to narrow down my choices, but based on 8k miles per annum for myself and my wife, single car household.

I've had the following quotes from Money supermarket.

EV6
GTLine S AWD = 799.58
GTLine S RWD = 642.76
GT = 1,690.11

IPACE
HSE 400 = 1,426.95

BMW i4
m50 = 517.57
Msport 40 = 501.98

HYUNDAI IONIQ 5
ULTIMATE RWD = 527.98

I thought it was more related to acceleration or value, but the m50 is soo much cheaper to insure than the EV6 GT, even a RWD Ioniq 5 is more expensive. for context my current car is 520d = 594.40 and a comparable ICE is
BMW M440i = 678.59 which is more than the m50, so anecdotally there isn't a great deal of difference with EV cars compared to ICE with some weird outliers but it might be worth checking around on those.

There are so many factors used to determine car insurance pricing, including cost and time for repairs.

Paying £565 for an EV6GT with KGM through Lancaster Ins.
