The stock price drop appears to have been driven by the video by MKBHD, a very large tech youtuber - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xWXRk3yaSw&t=...
It dropped way before then after Fisker published their December financials which showed they had sold only about a 3rd of the cars they had made for them and were in deep doo-doo. MKB's review just sped up the final drop, which would have come anyway as soon as the news of Nissan buying the Fisker pickup proved to be false (though some are still saying they were considering but pulled out).

I think it was never going to be viable. It wasn’t viable with the Karma, then on the new venture the solid state and Graphene battery was dropped. They were hoping to build a decent product and then be bought by a big player. It’s not working because they can’t sell the numbers they need to make it viable. Tesla had a completely different approach and it’s starting to pay off. The Chinese… well they just have the numbers even in the internal market alone.

Which is bizarre, as basically it’s just software bugs and he even says in his video that updates are incoming but only makes it clear in the comments that this was a pre-production car.
Is the price drop driven more by the fact that the company has basically gone bust?
Yeah more to it that some Youtuber giving a bad review. It doesn't sound like the company has been run all that well by the husband and wife team.

The price drops seem like a hoax to me.

He ( Fisker) seems to me to have some talents towards design. The Ocean, Pear, Alaska and Ronin all look great to my eye. The problem is he does seem to blow peoples money. Karma went down this route and what a surprise it seems to be happening again. Maybe Ineos Jim should buy the company for. £1 and finish the job Henryk started.

UK price cuts too, but possibly still a tech project only for the brave

At least they are honest; footnote to promo email

“Due to the current economic situation of the manufacturer Fisker Group Inc. and the Fisker sales companies in Europe, there is a risk of limited support and limited services for the vehicles. Buyers must expect a permanent loss of the enforceability of claims for material defects and warranty claims. By concluding a vehicle purchase contract after April 5, 2024, the buyer of a Fisker Ocean declares that he has been informed accordingly and nevertheless wishes to purchase a Fisker Ocean in view of the risk described.”

What’s the UK reduction? I couldn’t place a personal order when they were announced and someone on here (PH) said they were only available via one lease company. I read somewhere last week that 40,000 people cancelled their orders of 70,000 pre orders they had.

Up to £14k. The cheapest car I found on their UK inventory is £31,215 when looking at the Fisker website.

So basically you accept the risk that your 44k car is toast.

Discount needs to be the other way round. At least.

Needs to be much cheaper.

When aftermarket parts availability is non-existant I can see insurance being through the roof.

broken windscreen causing write off?

With no warranty it needs to be free.

I would argue £5k-10K for the risk, as if you only get a year out of it then that's what you would lose in depreciation anyway, and if nothing/nothing serious fails (and yes there are all sorts of reports on Fisker reliability, and even Carwow had some trouble with the one they were leant) then it could be cheap longer term motoring.
One thing about Fiskers is much of the underlying stuff is off the shelf, as that's their business model so I suspect if/when they fail someone will construct a list of where parts are actually got from/produced by. Yes something major go wrong (a CPU or ICU, or any glass or body work) then you could be in trouble.

Watching the youtube reviews this thing is currently unfinished, the software is a mess and has loads of issues they were promising to fix.

So it'll be like owning a VW.

Nice little disclaimer at the bottom of the Inventory page.

Well, Mr Fisker certainly has previous.

And the company that were supposed to be their key partner in the UK (on.to) have subsequently been put into administration.

Hard pass for me.

That’s the buggers. OnTo. It seemed the only way to get one was via a lease with them but Fisker were still happy to take a deposit. It was all a bit suspicious to me so I kept my deposit.
