Next couple of days look dry too so all possible. Not surprised that many have commitments. I shall turn up today. Many will likely be working the next couple of days. New Year's Day maybe??

Pleased you did for two reasons:

1. You were excellent company.

2. No other bugger could make it.

Seriously, it,was great to meet you James.... bow

I saw you at the top of the Rohais about 1.15pm today, presumably on your way to Vistas. I was on my way to the panto......

BTW, your Boxster sounded very good. I didn't wave as my motor is spending Xmas at Jackson's and you'd have probably been surprised by getting a salute from a CRV!

And you, and thanks very much for the demo of the Porsche!

We'll have to do it again as I owe you a coffee! biggrin

(PS saw an NSX on the way home, reg no. 4. Don't think I've see that before...)

Think that NSX is owned by the guy from Doyle Motors. I've seen it in the showroom and looks like a really nice car. They have reg no 3 as well, albeit on something a little more prosaic.

That's correct. He's also got a black NSX and an early 911.

Usually CRVs aren't very polite with their saluting at Porsches so I tend to ignore them wink

James and I were stuck in Sunday afternoon traffic so having been cautioned by plod a few weeks ago for speeding I didn't think I particularly wanted to hear that oft repeated panto line of 'he's behind you!' From James ...

I will be up for the next coffee meet.

I have been thinking for sometime to sort out a Goodwood type monthly Breakfast meet where any petrolheads can meet up for a coffee/breakfast and a chat.

Whilst the Classic Car Club, the Porsche Owners Club, the Sarnia Car Club and various other clubs meet up regularly, there is nothing for interested individuals that are not members of any of these clubs.

I was thinking of something like 9.00am on perhaps the third Sunday each month at somewhere like Vistas or Pembroke, i.e. it needs to be somewhere where numerous cars can park and where coffee/food can be had and also somewhere to sit inside if it is raining.

Any comments welcome.

Stuart

sounds good

as somebody suggested earlier Hotel Jerbourg might be an option

Great location, Large car park, great coffee and cake and Paul is a petrolhead so will I am sure welcome the event

It would be fun see that many cars navigate their way there and back smile

We are all on the same page smile. I think maybe setting a date in stone is going to work well in the summer type months but potentially less attendees on wet days (well, maybe the same number of attendees but without their garage queen cars.... Yes, I am likely referring to me...). We've batted this back and forward already but given so few people on the CI thread til recently nothing was concluded, though James and I might claim to have had the first such meet recently wink

I like Vistas for the tidy car park but it now seems to be consistently busy and in my view not enough capacity to make people with decent cars want to park there. Pembroke is a rough car park.... So....

Crabby J . Good car parking but do, or would they, provide coffee etc on a Sunday morning?

Half Moon, with parking in each direction.

One of the piers? Boat House or White Rock cafe for refreshments....

I think the priorities must be easy access, tidy parking, refreshments. The better we build it, the more will come smile

It is possible to get exclusive use of the car park next to Vistas via the Environment Dept which I have done twice before for the Charity Sprints, so this might be the solution and would then make it the perfect venue. We could book it from perhaps 8.30am to 10,30am - just a thought !

I agree with your comments that if it rains the turnout won't be as good but that being said the Goodwood Breakfast Club is always oversubscribed even when it rains.

Perhaps we could meet up and discuss over a coffee ?

I like the idea of a monthly meet, i am sure that over time members will increase, i suppose it depends on what crowd you are looking to attract. Personnaly i would consider myself a car nut and would be very interested... however i do not own an excotic super car (Mazdz 3 MPS), would there be a criteria on car type?

If I can get away with turning up in my Octavia VRS, in the state it was last week, you'll be fine biggrin but then there was only two of us, and anything would look ratty next to Paul's GTS!

I'm always keen for a meet. As other's have said might be better to organise a date on a month-by-month basis - otherwise if we do a turn-up-if-you-can with our numbers someone might end up being the only one there. doodle.com may be useful for orgnaising this sort of thing.

I don't think a criteria should be set other than "interesting" vehicles which I would classify as performance, modified, sports, supercars, classic, veteran, vintage, kit cars, American, customised, etc...

Certainly a Mazda 3 MPS and an Octavia VRS would be the type of vehicles and the more variety we have the more people will be attracted. The different type of vehicles will attract a different range of age profiles and types but at the end of the day they will all be "petrolheads".

I am sure that the Guernsey Press will be happy to do an article about the inaugural meet once this is sorted.

The biggest potential problem if it took off is that there may not be enough car parking space for everyone but it would be great to have that problem !
