I think I know the answer, and it's no, but does anyone know of a way of getting a vehicle over to Guernsey and Jersey without using Condor?

We work over there a few times a year and it's become a major pain in the rear.

Do you mean avoiding Condor as a company or the fast craft?

I think they also do a traditional ferry from Portsmouth, but it must be a slow old ride.

Condor as a company tbh, we have been punted onto the Clipper (which takes 10 hours) the last few times as the Liberation has either been broken or the weather was outside its operating limits, we have also been taken off the Liberation as it was over booked back in May last year, one of our guys went on as a foot passenger and found the car deck nearly empty.... All very odd tbh and a major pain in the bum.

They're having a right mare this weekend. Boats not running at all and others damaged and stuck out of port or stuck in port but the loading ramps won't lower.

Have a look on Jersey Evening Post.

The Poole ferry was cancelled the other day, the loaded passengers onto the Portsmouth ferry then when it arrived in Portsmouth the ramp wouldn't lower and cars were stuck for 12 hours and 1.5 hours away from their intended port!

Good advice. The car ferry service is becoming more and more unreliable and a right PITA.

I might be able to help here...

When I sold my Evo hill climb car, I contacted Channel Seaways and arranged to put it in a container and for it to be delivered to Poole which is where their UK depot is. All I had to do was drop the car down there and put it in an empty container. They did the rest. I imagine it works the same the other way but give them a shout.

This is all from Jersey by the way. I can't remember the exact figure it cost to ship the car but it was definitely less than £200.

Hope this helps.

Condor have been having a string of issues since getting rid of the excellent 2 catamarans Vitesse & Express (both of which I used several times, along with their predecessors Condor 11 and 12) and putting all their eggs in one larger unreliable white elephant.
This is the latest report from 3 days ago, it sounds pretty serious if the steering is "inoperative" on a boat like this:-
