Out of interest the list mentions Lotus (all models) but would it incorporate a Cortina Lotus which all intents and purposes is a Ford:

nerd The Mk1 is a Lotus Cortina, built by Lotus.
The Mk2 is a Cortina Lotus, built by Ford.

I'm sure that's just an oversight/the term is used inclusively. If the list had been drawn up by a British company, for a British event - and VXs were allowed, I wouldn't expect to see Opel Speedster on the list. Anyway, I'm taking my VX220 round thumbup

Wot - no Mark 2 RS Escorts??
Yep, big shame, I'd have loved to take mine around, it loves a track:

Hmm I'd like to understand the rationale behind ruling on those able to take part in the Parade, especially given that cars competed in the race between 1923 and 1979. Extending the parade to incorporate performance classics up to 1979 should take precedence over those more modern cars (so post 1979) of certain marques. Smacks of a clique to me...

Le Mans is one big clique. Quite a good one, but a clique nonetheless. Your car had to be either old or have the right badge, or both. It's a case of if your face doesn't fit.

Clique is fine with me I'd just like to take one of my vehicles on track and the RS will fare much better than the camper smile

Me too. I'd take the RS500 if it was eligible. As it is, will go in the Focus and leave the classic at home...

Most of the track controllers haven't got a scooby about cars anyways, I saw plenty of cars lapping last time that weren't on the happy few list but got past the marshalls.

It's no clique, the list is put together to incorporate manufacturers that have a long history of competing at Le Mans and then working on excluding some of the models. If they let all Ford's on for example, it would allow god knows what on track from a Ka to a Transit. So, something like Lotus, Ferrari, Porsche have a long history with the race and all models are of interest to motoring enthusiasts, hence all models allowed.

Good reasoning - I agree, who wants to see a Ka going round or any other non-descript modern machinery, it's the up to 1979 rule for me but then I have got a vested interest...biggrin

I would be confident you'd get on in an RS Escort... After all, they did have RS Capri's and I think Mk1 Escorts that raced smile

Hi yes the works Ford Capri RS 2600's competed in the 1972 Le Mans.

Unfortunately no Escorts ever competed in Le Mans Zakspeed or otherwise although it's general motorsport pedigree is so long and varied you could write a 'war and peace' on it...;)

Dolls firmly ejected from the pram: No Ginettas. I'll take the Mazda 6 and tow my (pre 1979) folding caravan
