I smiled at the reference to 'pure sound' - the fact that you can hear people in the crowd chatting as the lead Audis are passing is a bit sad, in my opinion. The opening lap, which used to be all 'blood and thunder' at the front, is now preposterously silent. The assault on the senses has been lost and that's a shame.

If you were at Le Mans when Jaguar, Sauber, Mercedes Benz, Peugeot (I left out Porsche because the 956/962 was a little muted) lead the grid on the first lap, you may better understand where I'm coming from.

I understand mate! Got a glimpse of it with the Group C race this year and the Mazda last year. There is still some pleasent sounds though, most of the GTE cars sound good and the Toyota wasn't too bad.

There was one teams cars that were really high pitched when they passed. P2 team and it made the hairs on my neck stand on end!
I'll try find out who the team were
Edit. It was the Strakka racing car.
