Houx Un-numbered
Discussion
Making my mind up what kind of tickets to get this year.
Previous years I got Houx numbered but I think the agencies are a little pricy, so this year I have upgraded my ACO membership to VIP and I will get the tickets through the ACO or the Le Mans Tourist Office.
Now, what tickets to get? Numbered? Where will this put me? Probably between a lot of French people?
Or un-numbered? Can you decide 100% on your own where you pitch up? Or do the people at the gate put you somewhere they seem fit?
I will need 3 adjacent places, so not a lot of choice if I go the un-numbered route (see map)
Is it just a matter of turning up early on sunday morning and pick a spot of nrs 1-5?
So: numbered or un-numbered?
And about the pitches of nr.1. Was that where the great flooding of 2010 was?

If you are heading down on the Sunday before the race you should have your pick of the plots. In 2011 we went down on the Wednesday, by which time I would say less than 20% of the non-numbered plots were occupied.
Are you sure you'll be able to get Houx Numbered (or even un-numbered) form the sources you mention? From past posts it appears not all sites are available through the ACO (since they introduced the web site ticket system) and I'm sure Houx was one of those that people had trouble with.

I heard the same too, but I also heard that the Tourist Office works way better than the ACO web system, so I'll give them a try.So the question still stands:
Numbered or un-numbered?
And in the case of un-numbered: pitches 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5?

We've done numbered and un-numbered at Houx for the last couple of years. Done the un-numbered this year and the gate staff were happy for us to move no problem. Got there on the Weds afternoon which left us plenty of time to select the pitches we pretty much wanted. I would say that thursday will def make it a tad more difficult.....
Doesn't seem to make much difference. Last two years I had numbered pitches only to turn up on the Friday and find that someone else had already taken them. Usually managed to get settled somewhere close though, avoiding the urge to let down tyres, cut guy ropes, p#$$ in their BBQ etc., although all of the above did initially cross my mind.
