Have used the route over the "new bridge"and to be honest never had a problem at any time of day.Just watch the speed cameras on the way in and out.

Just to be clear is the bridge still closed? I doubt my archaic SatNav will compute any alterations to the journey!

Cheers

Or to be more specific, until after Le Mans next year, so you'll have the same problems all over again.

Definitely closed and does cause mayhem as went through last Friday afternoon on the way to family.

Best way through is to stay on the A29 to the A151 (rather than take the A28), then A150, N338, N138 to the A13 and then onto the A28. Or completely avoid it and come off the A29 at J9, take the D929 to Yvetot and drop down to the A13 on the D131/490/913 (quite a lot of DC and less boring than the motorway smile )

I've just looked this up on AA Routefinder - Looks like a fairly simple detour, with the added bonus of some nice roads thrown in.

2 Weeks to go!!
Call me Mr Thicky but..... What did you put in to get that route please. From which two points ? Ta.

It was slow going on a Sunday afternoon and the sat nav coped with redirecting us through Rouen on the way down. iI thought my sat nav was trying to redirect us on the way back up, but it was determined to get us to use the borked bridge! We ended up right in the middle of Rouen.

On return from the circuit it's essential that you exit the A13 at junction 23 (signed Rouen Centre, Elbeuf and Rouen Ouest). That leads you to the "voie rapide" dual carriageway and eventually down to a roundabout where you turn left for Dieppe or straight on and turn left at the next traffic lights onto the N138, over the Pont Guillaume and follow the signs for Boulogne, Amiens.

This looks very simple and not too much of a detour (probably quicker than getting lost in Rouen anyway!)

From Calais put in to Google Maps or Sat Nav Calais to Yvetot then Le mans

Just seen this was mentioned earlier in the thread, but every little helps!!

Would suggest Calais - Yvetot - Bourg Achard (just in case sat nav takes you back into Rouen) - Le Mans

Storm in a teacup....as it turned out...

Hope the scenic route was fun for those that took it!

As had been suggested beforehand the "lorry detour" route (A151) was very quick with just one sub-100 speed limit (over the bridge) and a couple of roundabouts, so it is less hassle than the normal route alongside the railway with all its traffic lights and lower speed limit. Might consider it going that way even when the main bridge is repaired.

Coming back there was a bit of a queue as we approached the first roundabout but that was all locals (and a British Noble looking lost) going down some underpass (into the city centre?) and no-one else heading to the bypass bridge.

The detour worked well on the way back through Rouen, will probably use it as a regular route in future.
Avoid the first underpass, go left at the roundabout for the N150, following the detour signs and you'll be good.

Went via Yvetot on the way down, and much preferred it. There is a Supermarket with good priced fuel,a L'Eclerc and a McDonalds en-route at Yvetot, so a good place to stop next year.

That's the route we took-A150/A151 very clear and free flowing. Much better than the buttock clench fest driving through a major ish French city...

You might have been lucky, I came across a number of people who described the traffic in Rouen as horrendous and one last night was blaming it for missing their ferry.

The Yvelot route worked really well for me and will use it in future, think it is just as quick as the route through Rouen anyway.
