Having been to Le Mans since 1979, either for the race, the early May practice as it used to be and latterly the Classic the only thing to be sure of is that you cannot be sure about the weather.

The only consolation that I have is whatever we get I have seen it before !!

Bob

PS Starting to get mildly excited now !

Yes totally agree - 2 years ago was mighty cold at night. I will never forget exiting my tent one morning to see a guy clearly suffering after his mate (who had an Ultima and therefore not much luggage space) had told him that Le Mans is always hot and he didn't need to take anything other than a toothbrush and a hand towel!! He had been using his hand towel as a blanket, sleeping on the floor and oh yes - he had only taken shorts to wear!! Priceless.

2003 was the most toasty lemans I remember. 2005 was a pig of a trip as the turbo'd Capri we were in twisted and snapped its propshaft on the way down. There was no hire cars left anywhere so we ended up on foot for the rest of the trip.

Ridiculous it may be, but I am doing a five day rally starting Friday and at the moment the fire is alight and it is 13C outside, the wind is force six, and it looks like it is going to throw it down. The weather, for the forseeable future, is not going to change. Rain, wind, and cold. I am not sure the XKSS is the right car for this rally!

Well not that I am not sorry that the weather is bad there but if we get the nasty stuff out of the way now it could be better in 5 weeks

I'm ordering a weekend of scorchers jazzed up with a couple of downpours to keep the excitement up. I've got memories of 2003 when I managed to get a massive hangover and it was also very very hot which was not a good combination

Yeah, the Thursday night in particular I've never known it so cold there!
Yes, it was horrid. The cold was so... cold... that it completely penetrated my very thick beer jacket.

Last year rained a lot on Friday, I have photos of my lot wearing their kagools in the pit lane biggrin

Update from the BBC

June is arriving; is summer arriving too?

Drier and brighter conditions look set for the start of June though there will be some cloud and rain around. Unfortunately temperatures look like they will be little disappointing hovering slightly below average for this time of year especially in the south where it could be described as distinctly cool. However, there is a chance things could warm up later in the month.

If and it's a big if they ran in the snow (rules?) it would be amazing, certainly we would never forget it.

+1 for snow flurries during the race hot days before

Although all the excessive food & beer has resulted in a few backside grabs over the years at Le Mans I've never considered trying to fit my snowboard in! The hill at Tertre Rouge might be steep enough to bust a move! Lol

We are long overdue a warm, sunshine thursday to Monday trip. Fingers crossed.

I can live with overcast but rain ruins everything.

http://www.accuweather.com/en/fr/le-mans/135975/da...

Just a shame i'm not there this year, half my body including my face was so badly sunburnt last year I was sitting at my desk peeling for weeks! Still have the tan lines now!
