Mad Friday hasnt really changed in the last 10 years.

Every year the moaners come on and say how bad its got, and how its worse than the year before. Im sure its the same people moaning every year.

Either way, it cant be as bad as described on here as the sides of the road are still rammed with people.

And I dont know if Ive been lucky for the last 10 years, but Ive never seen any piss thrown.

The easiest thing to do if youre concerned is - dont go out for a jolly drive on the Friday if you are concerned. Its just as quick to walk anyway.

Here is a video from last year so you can see what it was like. I make a guest appearance in the limo.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vot2M9O2imo

Having been every year since 2006 (not that long i know), he's spot on though.

I have an old Volvo, down on power at the best of times, let alone 5 up. I've had my car kicked, and god knows what thrown over it, and people trying to open the boot because i won't do a burnout.

Now if anyone tries to stop me, I just keep fking going. The s soon move out the way, if they get hit, they shouldn't be in the road.

All the dheads are brits too. Amazing how the rest of europe can party responsibly but the brits are just aholes. And just before you say i'm a grumpy old man, I'm not even 30 yet!

Its a shame, because its nice to see lots of nice cars throughout the week, but now I wouldn't take anything else apart from my £500 snotter. If someone kicks it, i don't really care.

We got involved in Mad Friday last year, yeah ok, we revved the engine blah blah, that said we were out driving around at 3 in the afternoon, no issues, no piss thrown, no molotov cocktails, no idiots, just a good bit of banter. You spin we drink was the best one. Would we have gone out at 9pm after a day of beer, rowdiness etc? The answer is no.

Bit like a TV programme, if you dont like it, turn it over. If you dont what the chav ish behaviour then what the hell are you doing taking the car out at night??

Le Mans caters for all sorts, classic car owners, supercar owners, company car owners, shed owners and yes drunken idiots, that is what makes it such a unique event and that is why we go year after year..

If you have a convertible keep the roof up. Or you may get a nice bottle of red thrown into your interior. Or piss. Or even lit flammable liquid ( two years ago someone was breathing fire into convertibles. )

Watch out for the chavs doing doughnuts, kicking up stones to enhance your paintwork. You will find them most apologetic about it. Er no.. you won't.

Broken bottles as mentioned earlier. The odd tent going up in flames due to fireworks being set off 2 feet away.

The standing start and floor it. Seen a few cars had the odd wobble. Just astonished I haven't seen someone run over yet.

Drunk twunts with a nightclub quality pa system playing music till 7am; who then get really grumpy when you switch on Radio Le Mans on your small radio over breakfast because they want to sleep.

Le Mans really does attract a lot of pond life.

Arent you just a ray of sunshine.
Actually I am. I even invite the neighbours over for ice cold beers. Even give free beers to the security guards.
Been going for 15 years.
I just call it as I see it. Your experiences may vary.

I'm sure you are a top bloke smile
Happily share a beer to two with you.
I'm not really that grumpy. Honest.

Ive been 6 years in a row and been to all the "mad fridays". They have got progressively worse over the years. But last years wasn't too bad. The 1st year was the best as the police were not intervening at all and cars were allowed to do burnouts and everyone was safe and had a good time. Unfortunately due to dick heads and rubbish drivers the police have got more involved and now anyone caught doing burnouts is fined on the spot.

I tend to park up and grab a beer at the pub on the Mullsanne and watch for an hour or so, for 2012 the police wouldn't allow any parking on the Mullsanne at all which was ridiculous!

Ill go this year but probably wont stay long, there is a great car show at St Ettienne (the Great British welcome) which is well worth a look! Oh and the pit walk and drivers parade.

Friday: up early ish, drive the Mulsanne etc before it gets too busy. Head to the classic british welcome for a couple of hours. Back to camp by lunchtime and leave the car there for the rest of the day. Quick stroll up the pitlane walkabout, then tram into town, watch drivers parade (drink) grab some decent dinner (drink) find a bar (drink) this year watch a world cup game (drink) tram back to the circuit late evening. Sorted.

Friday afternoon Mulsanne straight by the Chinese restaurant gets a bit bonkers.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSJwllJc3ak

The old Houx roundabout has calmed down due to it no longer being there, however the road down to Houx which ends up at Beausejour does get out of hand Friday afternoon /evening.

Now that Karting Nord is no more, im not sure what the expectations will be at that end of the road?

The other problem section is outside Maison Blanche/ Blue sud down to the Porsche curves roundabout.

GOOD LUCK if that floats your boat, you might see me early on the Mulsanne straight but I stay well clear of that st! nono

I'd have to strongly disagree with that statement as in my experience the Brits are generally the ones stood at the back exchanging looks that say "This doesn't look very safe" and "Throwing water isn't really cricket".

Walking up the "path to beef" to the tram stop around lunchtime it's usually people draped in Danish flags that are already hammered and holding water pistols.

This is my group's routine year in year out and sadly no time in the schedule as yet to squeeze in the PH meet.

Right, just watched all of that, funny parts, small motorbikes, bloke in a bath, Team Dread.
Now as for the burnouts, many of you on here seem to positively encourage them frown Now having seen this stuff live in the past, you all shout out for more and encourage it BUT if the driver gets it wrong, hits another car or burns out his clutch the reaction is then Pratt or Tit!

Sadly the drivers can't win, I also don't think many of you don't realise the consequences if it all goes wrong!
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... A very sobering read frown

At one point Your Video shows the goings on outside Blue Sud, this is the route many have to take to get to the PH meet or to avoid it you have to drive a big loop via Arnage. This is one of the reasons I don't attend, heres the other reason!
http://www.tyre-shopper.co.uk/cart

A few years ago I took a cobra to Le mans, doing a burnout the car jumped sideways and mounted a kerb, if there had been any spectators at roadside they would have been seriously hurt! I learnt my lesson and hope you will look more carefully at this type of activity.

Have a safe Le mans.

Annoyingly I'll be arriving on Friday, and am camping with Speed Chills at Beausejour. I don't suppose there is a good route to avoid all of this? I was planning in coming in from the "back", rather than going through Le Mans itself and past the Start/Finish straight.

Head to Arnage, get into the middle of the old High street then turn left at the roundabout, go over the railway line and follow road around to the left, this will bring you down to the roundabout at the Porsche curves, go straight across the roundabout, under the bridge, Beausejour will be on your right smile If you use that route in and out over the weekend you should be OK. I would not use the road up to Houx camping as you will end up being asked to perform the above!

Fantastic, thank you! IIRC, that road has the entrance to the PH Friday Service on it, doesn't it? Not that I will be there in time for that!

I enjoy mad Friday as much as anyone as it’s not every day you get to see proper sports cars doing burnouts etc. However the last year we went I almost got into a fight with a bunch of drunk English chavs as they were shouting abuse at people who wouldn't do anything. Cheering etc is fun and part of the atmosphere but when it turns aggressive and people start shouting crap at the drivers or even worse hitting their cars then it has gone far too far IMO.
I confronted the pricks who were doing it that year and they calmed down afterwards but the only people I could see being aggressive were drunk English chavs. Sad but true. They ruined it for everyone as no-one with a half decent car would go past anymore for fear of it being damaged and I can’t blame them.

This was me a couple of years ago and the guys at the side of the road were funny and not abusive in any way. I felt obliged to give them a little burnout after their display. smile If it was all like this then there wouldn’t be any issues.
