Used my sports dab 2 at silverstone over the weekend. Used with bud style headphones that block out noise for outside.

Fully charged lasted all three days running at 50% speaker on the front not loud enough though. Very pleased with it.

The clas Olson ones are OK but for radio Silverstone at 87.7 they don't quite tune down low enough in the band so were next to useless while there.
Roberts 996 and cheap Tesco radios with in ear phones worked brilliantly though!
That is odd gave mine a first outing and they were brilliant, picked up radio le mans on 87.7 no problem and they kept my ears warm. Best £15 i have spent in ages would highly recommend them

Mine tuned in okay but were a little on the quiet side. I switched back to my DAB/FM radio and used the defenders to be able to hear the radio clearly enough.

Which earphones did you use? My understanding is that the fm aerial is up the earphone lead.
I use the pair of Soundmagic E10s I normally use for my ipod. I appreciate that they cost about twice what the radio does, but as I used to use them every day for commuting on the train, that did offset the cost somewhat! Earbud types help with sealing out too much of the background noise at the circuit.

The reception is fine with them (and before the E10s I used a pair of Sennheisers similar to these which also had great reception. I only replaced them with the E10s when they developed a dodgy connection on the jack).

I imagine that any cabled headphones should work and that the cable acts as the aerial.

Thanks, I'll experiment with some of my other earphones.

Gave them a try myself found them way to quiet on the pit straight. Other half has peltors and they worked perfectly, I'll be investing in a set before le man, I may look like a tool but who cares?

I used my pure personal DAB radio at Silverstone, but i did not have any over ear defenders, big mistake as my ears are still ringing, anyway i decided to shell out my birthday money on some of these.

On the subject of radios if someone happened to have a radio that could pick up a wide range of frequencies.

Is it possible to pick up car to pit radios or are they all on digital?

Well I finally caved in and bought a pair of Peltor FM ear defenders. They weren't cheap £80 but I know that if I didnt get them, come Le Mans this June I'd be wishing I had.

Sat here at my desk listening to the radio I nearly didnt hear my phone ringing! My colleagues are giving me funny looks too!

Peltors we'll worth the purchase. They'll last years for the annual Le man outings, so initial outlay isn't too bad.

Just bought two sets of the clas olsons for a couple of others in the group. My gift to make their trip a bit better, but couldn't justify costs for two extra peltor sets. Hopefully they will do the job okay.

I've used some £10 "Bay of Fleas" radio ear defenders for 4 years, and they've been fine.
I only changed the batteries for the 1st time yesterday ready for Spa next weekend.

There are some Peltor radio ear defenders available ~£35/mark.
