10 weeks today and we'll be off to Portsmouth for the overnight ferry, which means 10 weeks tomorrow we'll be sticking the tent up at Tertre Rouge and enjoying a beer in the balmy afternoon sunshine 6 of us this year, with 3 newbies joining us....and the newbies are already planning who will be driving down next year !!

I am posh camping. Figured as it's my first time there I should do it in style. Red Audi S4 Estate all stickerd up. I shall look out for you guys on the site and say hello for a tipple.
If you like your Gin, might I suggest a bottle of stuff called Caorunn. I tried it recently on 2 occassions and it is very good. Espcially with a little thin slice of apple in it.
I'm not that posh, but a nice drink is a nice drink.

I will for the 28th year be staying at the Hotel de France, now under new ownership of a Brit. I had a weekend there in mid March and a total refurbishment was still in progress. The new bar looks great with its unique "time line wall" of photos of drivers, cars and celebrities that have stayed at the hotel in the past. Can't wait to see the Hotel totally finished. On the grapevine there are some special events planned for the Le Mans weekends Test, 24Hrs and Classic.

My OH discovered that a gin and champagne cocktail in a plastic pint glass served warm at Le Mans goes down well (I discovered that Dutch home brew lemoncello doesn't go down well, but it comes up quite easily. side effects include missing the start of the race! )This year I turning out to be a bit of a task
Because I knew the time involved in booking things early to avoid disappointment, I've ended up organising a trip for 27 + people, Ferries, payments, Camping payments, Chateau accommodation and group dinner! Deposit for the chateau.
And sod all help!
Le mans is in my thoughts every day sorting this lot out!

I feel your pain. Well not really, because I couldn't imagine how stressful that can get. I hope you get it all sorted out.
This is exactly the reason why I limit my group to 3 campingtickets and all the people you could squeeze into 3 cars (well, I travel alone, so 1 person + all the people you could cram into 2 cars actually...)
Good luck with arranging all your stuff and when I see your Viper at St. Saturnin I'll come over and say hello!

I missed last year for a wedding and if I don't go then none of "my" party step up to organise a trip. This year is the 14th I've organised since 1999 and 2 out of 9 in my group haven't been before. As much as it is a PITA arranging everything, for me the organisation really helps my build-up as I'm already thinking about next year's trip in June, making reservations, tracking ferry timetables, watching the ACO confirm race dates, etc etc. Emailing my pals to chase their money is also a chance for me to draft the "...16 weeks from now...", "...12 weeks from now..." etc updates and whip up the excitement levels about the drive through France, what cars will we take, Wednesday/ Thursday practice and qualifying, St Saturnin, the pit walk, the parade, our "team" meal and night out in the city centre then waking up on Saturday with our race-heads on. Le Mans is a routine and yet it's a different experience every time. To say I'm generally excited about Le Mans does not do it justice. We'll be on Tertre Rouge, arriving Wednesday around beer-o-clock with a carrera 3.2, vantage V8, a Ducati and a couple of load luggers carrying our camp kit. If anyone else here is on TR please do drop by to say hello.
