We were told over the radio that the Toyota's were split, with one running HDF and the other in LMS trim. We weren't told which was which though! On visible inspection it did look like both were identical. A keen eyed Japanese photographer at the final turn said there didn't seem to be any difference, so wouldn't be surprised if they were both running HDF, despite RLM reporting otherwise.
I thought we were told they were both running HDF, but split on tyre strategies? But that they have some funny front wing that isn't a front wing...In short, you're probably right.

Great photos, and yes, a good bit of fun in that photo. Is a bloody long day for us, so a little bit of humour breaks it up. Can I please forward that onto to the marshal? He'd like to see it.A fun weekend despite the cold, and being able to see the speed difference between the GT, LMP2, LMP1 and LMP1H (both with and without the extra power) was astounding. At one point the Toyota exited Club and passed an Aston, the Aston was only half way up the straight when the Toyota was entering Abbey!! It was like the GT was parked

Yup, Porsche were the only team to run in Le Mans configuration.

Interesting from that piece how Porsche were already flagging the potential problems in the wet that they ended up experiencing. Hope they get that sussed in time for the Big One, given the weather conditions in recent years...http://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/silverstone-sat...

We also spoke about the fact that Toyota brought the two cars in different specs - one in high downforce, the other in full LM trim

Silverstone was great on sunday. Hearing the cars starting up brought back those Le Mans tingles. It was a pity the Audi's crashed and even more that the Porsches were off the pace but hopefully all that will be sorted in the next month.
That rain at the end was insane though. Day turned to night on part of the way home!

You're not wrong about the rain. I was drenched to the bone, even with waterproofs. The camera had to have some emergency airing cupboard / rice immersion, but fortunately seems to have sprung back into life. Good job the grandstands were open.
Hats off to RadioLeMans again, they do a fantastic service, informative as always. Earbuds under ear defenders meant I could still hear it over the cars, unlike most trackside tannoy versions!

Excellent pictures!!
This was my first visit to Silverstone since a boy, and seeing the LMP1s going through Maggots and Becketts at physics defying speeds was unbelievable, seeming way faster than anywhere at Le Mans (I think only due to the proximity to the track). It was also amazing to see so much of the circuit from Becketts grandstand. The first hour of the race passed in what felt like a few minutes and kept my wife and two small children mesmerised. If you've been thinking of going then don't think twice - definitely worth it and I'm sure it will be a regular for us now.
Thanks GreatDane for the spotter's guide :-)

Where was this? I missed it during the race.
It was at the Maggots/Becketts complex, during a damp period about 3-4 hours into the race. Lots of cars were having trouble getting stopped in time for Becketts and cutting across the runoff, but this was by far the worst case ! Not sure if TV caught it.
