Does anyone know or have any any experience of getting TV coverage of the race from their camping pitch without electric hook up? Presumably those battery operated portable tv's are redundant nowadays?

Generator + TV + satellite + Eurosport is very common.

Ipad / tablet / phone + Eurosport should work, but i suspect the networks struggle with the numbers trying.

Seen the generator approach. Guess it's the tried and tested method.

Anything internet based sounds mightily expensive with all that roaming data!

Local pay as you go sim would be the way to go for data. Think I'll investigate what's available closer to LM.

Perfect job for that spare smart phone in the drawer - add a local data only sim and use it as a portable hotspot for main Phone, ipad etc.

Whoever Vodafone use for roaming you can certainly forget. Getting voice calls is difficult. Data is very very slow.

Great idea in principal! So IF a suitable network could be established what then? Eurosport app? Some sort of French TV app?
